Ok everyone....
we just got a house this past week and have been working hard cleaning, painting....all that fun stuff.... before we move the furniture in. It is an older and the bathrooms and kitchen have some really awful wallpaper! Not only that, the wallpaper that is in the kitchen, has more wallpaper underneath it!!!

So... who has some wallpaper removal help for me????
:D

there is stuff you buy in home depot or lowes. it is in a spray bottle that looks like windex. You spray it on, let it sit and scrape the wallpaper off. It is in the wallpaper section. Ask the worker to help you.

I will give you a tip - I had the same situation and I wasted days spraying and scraping and scraping....

This will cost a few bucks but it is worth it... go and get a cheap garden sprayer - the kind you use to spray chemicals on your garden... you know... you put the liquid in and you pump it up and it sprays out like a car wash sprayer...!

Now you peel the top layer off the wallpaper - especially if it is vinyl.

Then you get drop sheets - cloth is best and you roll them up and you lay them along the baseboards.... this to soak up the wet....

This is not a neat job...

Now you pump up that sprayer with either wallpaper remover and warm water OR just dishsoap and warm water will do the same thing.... and you SOAK THE WALLS.. JUST SPRAY AND SOAK the walls... Did I say that you should SOAK the walls???? Like REALLY wet them down...

If you do this when you take the scraper to it the wallpaper will be like cutting through soft butter! It will peel off like you never imagined!

Good luck!

This may cost more than other things and suggestions, but i swear by it... a electirc wallpaper steamer, or a carpet shampooer!! It took me about 2 - 3 days to strip all the wallpaper off all the walls in my house using it!!

Yeah, the other thing too, is to get those little tigers (Ithink that's what they're called. They're round, and you score the wallpaper with it which allows the solution to soak in. I know with old wallpaper, and especially wallpaper on TOP of wallpaper, it's NOT a fun job, but you really have to deal with it, because you don't want to paint over it. That would be a nightmare. Good luck!

I swear--wallpaper should be illegal. I went nuts trying to get some of the wallpaper off the walls when I first moved in. I still have an ugly old border in the frontroom. I tried using the liquid wallpaper stripper--no luck. I started using the steamer, but the ceiling is textured with latex paint, and when it starts getting exposed to the steam, the paint bubbles up and peels. Real swell.

I've always just used the stuff that looks like windex from Home Depot... I've used it on wallpaper, borders, etc... Never a problem! Sometimes you'll just have to let it sit a little longer than the bottle says. Happy Stripping! :) Wallpaper stripping, that is! :)

I just did this last month. The cheapest and best way to remove wallpaper is the peel off as much as you can, like on the seams that have curled up etc, then you take a spray bottle and fill it 2/3 full with downy fabric softener and the rest with water. Take it one section at a time, saturate it and was about 10 minutes and wa la, it comes off easier than scraping ice off a windshield. If there is still stubborn spots, re-spray and do over again. Me and one other person scraped a whole bedroom in about 4 hours!! Hope this helps.
