In my opinion all Prop 66 is going to do is create more victims. The above is just my opinion and does not necessarily represent the opinions of this station or its advertisers. littlesmoke 10-26-2004, 02:51 PM Sgt. I understand your concerns but most of felons will not be released in one full swoop. many will be re sentenced . on any given day how many are released? out of 32 prisons.... and what about those people without a support system or home to go to? 200.00 gate money wont get them very far. CDC needs to bolster their programs so the ones who want to go straight can . I recently read an article on programs in the prisons on Sunday in CC times . San quentin prison was profiled and the program had excellent results. I wonder if all prisons have these programs. Im voting yes on 66 SGT Anonymous 10-26-2004, 02:58 PM I agree. There needs to be a way to make sure that when inmates leave prison they don't come back. California State Prison is a revolving door right now. It needs to change. But it isn't gonna change in the near future and I am not willing to risk my family's saftey. Sgt. I understand your concerns but most of felons will not be released in one full swoop. many will be re sentenced . on any given day how many are released? out of 32 prisons.... and what about those people without a support system or home to go to? 200.00 gate money wont get them very far. No matter what we always have to keep our guard up. you never know what can happen ! but lets vote on nov 2nd . at least can we get Bush out of office! Also sgt I 've always respect your opinion . Keep it up . Yasmeen 10-28-2004, 06:39 PM At first I was undecided about Prop 66, now I am voting for it! I had to educate myself on it too! I have been handing out flyers at my apartment. Many people told me that they voted FOR the three strikes law but wasnt aware that it had serious flaws. So...theyre fighting to have this amended. I hope it wins the votes. MsLynn 10-28-2004, 08:32 PM I am voting yes on prop 66 NJR102000 10-29-2004, 07:34 PM THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 66!!!!! :hifive: THOSE OF YOU AGAINST IT: I UNDERSTAND YOUR POINT OF VIEW  JayandMe 10-29-2004, 07:40 PM WHO in there right mind would be against such nonsence! If so I GOT to know why! It's insane....getting life sentences for petty crime! I think it would be different if the crimes were that of rape or a more serious nature but not for petty crimes! I have a really good friend that will walk out of prison if it passes cause he's been down sooooooo much longer than he ever would have been sentenced!!!!!!!! GO PROP 66!!!!!!!!!!!! 27sbb 10-29-2004, 08:00 PM YES on Prop 66!!!! Kathy 11-01-2004, 12:05 PM WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 55% are for 66 33% are not WAY TO GO VOTERS! I'm getting ready and GOING TO PARTY! WOOOOOO HOOOOO for the Strikers! It is time to get those Judges and DA's off their Butts and work for a Living! Numbers are down but we will take 55%! LETS START THE PARTY! JaimeeLynn 11-01-2004, 12:45 PM You guys, it's not over yet....we still must fight to get this passed. When we started, the numbers were at 68% FOR 66, now, after that darn actor's (and all the other past losers that held that same position) campaigning, we are down (as of Sat. 10/30) to 55%. KEEP UP THE FIGHT AND SPREAD THE WORD FAR & WIDE! ~StArFiSh~ 11-01-2004, 01:02 PM Ive been watching the ads and I cant decide which way to go. I have several questions... Will it only release non violent offenders? Im worried that violent offenders will get out and re-offend, the same thing SGT said. But I also agree that 3 strikes is not doing the job it was intended for. I feel very confused on this issue. Sometimes I wonder if some people who are voting for it are doing so just because it will get their man out, but what about the others who will continue their life of crime. I dont want me or my family to be victimized. I would welcome anyones good points on the issue to help me decide. The ads on TV are so powerful for both sides. I understand what Polly Klass's grandpa is saying but I also think the fact that Davis is backing it says something. UGH,,,Im so Confused on this one!!! JaimeeLynn 11-01-2004, 01:11 PM Just to share: I am not voting for it to get my husband out. My husband is a lifer - this being his first and only offense. I have MANY other personal reasons as to why I am voting to get this passed. I can understand why you would think that the majority of the members on this site would be biased, so, you have valid concerns. I would say that tonight you should try as best you can to educate yourself on the Proposition and then make a decision from there. One thing I can not stand is an uneducated voter...if you still aren't sure on Prop. 66 tomorrow morning, I'd say don't vote for or against it either way. That would be the right thing to do. Please understand that I was not trying to make a dig at you, just in case you may have gotten that impression. I was trying to be neutral. ~StArFiSh~ 11-01-2004, 01:18 PM I totally agree jamie, I was planning on reading up on it tonight when I sit down to work on my absentee ballot. If I couldnt decide I was gonna leave it blank but Id like to be able to vote on it. My man is also a lifer who also is on his first and only offense, and he will not be affected by this. I want the 3 strikes to change, are they going to re write the law? I am a criminal justice major, Im embarrassed to say I dont know much about this prop., guess its all that I havent had time to go over this. I will research it tonight and I will let you know what i choose! Thank you! JaimeeLynn 11-01-2004, 01:24 PM Girlfriend, I just wanted you to know that I wouldn't jump down your throat for voting against it as long as you made an EDUCATED vote. I am very proud of my views and make them public, but, some people are very private. You just vote with your best intuition and go with your gut. GOOD LUCK! This is a Pro 66 site, however, the text of the Proposition is there on the website: www.facts1.com SGT Anonymous 11-01-2004, 01:53 PM As others have already said, look into it and then vote the way you want to. To thine own self be true. ~StArFiSh~ 11-01-2004, 01:56 PM I definately will SGT. Kathy 11-01-2004, 02:54 PM Ive been watching the ads and I cant decide which way to go. I have several questions... The 3 strikes law does need to be fixed. I've seen the ads on TV and it makes me sad that the ads are, in my opnion scaring people into voting against it. Prop 66 states that is is NOT intended to release murder's, child molester's, etc that are currenty serving thier sentence. It states that it is for non-violent offender's. A lot of these (non-violent) people need help, not prison. just my opinon.. ~StArFiSh~ 11-01-2004, 09:11 PM I voted YES on 66!! I read up on it and made my choice. I know that 3 strikes needed to be fixed and I like the way it was worded on the ballot; "LIMITS 3 stikes law to violent and/or serious felonies. Permits LIMITED re-sentencing under new definitions. INCREASES punishment for specified sex crimes against children" I agree with this. The comercial running by arnold made me think twice and worked well as a SCARE tactic but I educated myself and saw through that, I hope everyone else does too. I wondered why Gov.DAVIS would not support it but i realized its because he always put corrections in front of education.
