View Full Version : **Finally, the PO is Coming**
point of light 10-22-2004, 03:42 PM OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD :D
After almost 17 years, it's happening. Our release is becoming real. Today at work the Probation Officer called me to set up the home visit!
Our release isn't until June, so this seems really early...
After a brief conversation, I told him..."I bet you are not use to people being as excited as we are to have a PO." He replied, "no I'm not."
I can't wait! Should I have Halloween Cupcakes on the table or a warm apple pie?
If anyone has experience with Probation Officers in the Eastern District of Wisconsin, I've loved to hear from you.
**** :) :) :) :) Oh Happy Day :) :) :) :) ****

The PO is coming at 7:30AM!!! I'm ready so ready.
My heart wants to keep telling me, "He's coming home sooner than you think." That would be a gift from God, a true miracle.
I'll meet him at the door with my dress on, pearls around my neck...just like June Cleaver!

Zelda50 10-27-2004, 03:45 PM Nice to hear when someone's getting out, especially after so many years. Could I ask - was he serving a federal sentence under the guidelines or is he being paroled? Zelda
kintml2u 10-27-2004, 05:21 PM Point...what a blessing! Home-bound!
Please keep us posted on how it goes!
And...everyone keep Zelda in our prayers! Hopefully next time around, she'll be going through the same thing! Bring'em home! Bring'em home!
mach1 10-27-2004, 05:41 PM Point ... So exciting ... I am pulling for you both ... Congrats!!! Keep us posted!! :)
maidenheart 10-27-2004, 05:53 PM I am smiling for you point... keep us posted, I hope it is an early release surprise for you!
point of light 10-27-2004, 08:04 PM I'm still not breathing right since the PO left....he was here for 1.5 hours. A very extensive interview for both of us. Oh yea, I had a full page of questions in which he answered thoroughly. He liked my house!!! Lots of compliments there. Whew.
The only part that was shocking is that they dig up every bit of dirt they can find and try to get you to change your mind about having an inmate come home. Kinda like..."what's a nice girl like you doing with a **** like that?" And some questions that were even hard for the PO to ask. But this man had heart. He apologized for having to ask, but it was his job.
Zelda, we have the CCE to deal with...no parole. We are old law, pre SRA. (How close are you to the door?) I did learn during my meeting that the US Parole Commission was to have been shut down last year. Probation is taking it's place. Oh and Zelda...he told me that there are very very few of us old law left. Actually, we've been incarcerated longer than the PO has been working for the Feds!
He is efficient. Within 24 hours he called my husbands future employer to verify everything. I don't think there are any good surprises here ( like a longer CCC stay), just one agency so much more on top of things and SO MUCH MORE efficient than the BOP. I guess I'm just not use to that at all!!!
The best part of it all is that his release seems real now, not just a future dream. We still have to wait for Spring...
Thanks again everyone for holding my hand...
Zelda50 10-28-2004, 10:33 AM What's CCE? We don't know how much farther we have to go - he has another hearing in May. Congress keeps extending the U.S. Parole Commission funding. Is your guy in a CCC placement? We've been told my husband would not be eligible for that, even when given a parole date, due to his crime of conviction. (Nobody with convictions for "violent" offenses.) That's O.K. He can use our home as his placement! I'll accept him. :) I'm so glad for you - and if you've been at this for as long as we have, those type of comments to discourage the relationship are just laughable, eh? Zelda
1dayatatime 10-28-2004, 10:37 AM Point,
Sounds like it went pretty good. I hope he is home soon. Someone effecient? WOW! Didnt know those existed when dealing with prison.
