I have been sending mail to my son for 10 years now with no problem. Suddenly in the last two weeks my mail has been returned with notice that no address labels are allowed. THe stamps, name and address have marked out in hugh black marker strikes so that the envelopes cannot be used again or it can not be resent. One mailing cost me $1.75 and another $1.52. The post office said I could send them back in thesame envelop with the label removed if the black markings had not covered everything up. Is this a new rule or just more meanness?

sorry to hear about the returned mail. I know where i mail stuff to (tx) the do not allow any kinds of labels, return addy labels or computer labels, stickers, or even white out. You have to hand write it. I think the reason is that they dont want to trying to smuggle contraband (ie: drugs or whatnot) under the labels. I knw it sounds silly, but of course there is a rule for a reason... someone prolly tried to do it at one point. I wish i could too use labels, so much easier.

Hum dont know. I am in Ga and use labels everytime for my return address. Maybe I should stop before they waste my money. Sorry this has happened but they rule all aspects of our lives.

Not supposed to have any stickers. Not sure why they were allowing them before. In Ad/Seg they even rip the stamps off the envelopes.

The reason? People hide drugs under them. One of my first drug busts was black tar heroin hidden under postage stamps.
