I haven’t made it there yet, but I am hoping it will be soon. I will be marrying an inmate on the row in Arizona, if I can figure out how to get through the system. All I know so far is it is supposed to be possible. I too would be interested if anyone has been through it before and has any advice or warnings.

I was married this past June on San Quentin's death row. My husband is in the AC and our wedding was "non-contact" Amazingly, it was beautiful under the circumstances. We had the opportunity to be in "booth" and share some private moments. Although a "contact" visit was my dream, they did everything they could to give us extra time and private moments together. I'm happy to answer any questions.

Regis'sweetness-
First of all, congradulations on your upcoming marriage. I would contact the prison where he is located, talk to his classification officer, and a chaplain. Also check into the state where you are getting married-call someone. Good luck.

We made it on June 15th. I am now Eldon's wife, which makes us both very happy. The system did not make it easy, but in the end it did not beat us, so I feel we are blessed.

oooh reading this thread brought back memories!!! i remember being so nervouse as i typed this thread, wondering what to expect in a marriage with s/o on the row. well let me tell you, ive been married 5 months and i couldnt be happier! despite how people may seem to think of women who love men in prison, especially on death row, i am as happy as happy can be. because it doesnt matter where one may be..when there is a true connection of love it will far outweigh the toughest of situations, and love is non judgemental...it doesnt not discriminate. i cant help that i love my baby so much. hes my love and best friend, and i know hes my soulmate. i love him and ill always love him. my advice to you ladies who are thinking of marrying a man in prison regardless to the situation: just go with your heart. if it feels good to your heart and your soul try and roll with it. good luck to you all. may your hearts be as happy as mine is.

I was married February 4, 2005 also! I went to Texas and did it by Proxy! It was easy and everybody in the Clerk's Office was awesome!

Pardon my ignorance, but how does this "proxy" thing work? It may well become useful information for me someday, and I'd really appreciate any details anyone can provide. Are there residency requirements involved? Most importantly, are the requirements the same for men and women on Death Row in Texas (they seem to have two different sets of regulations in some respects)?
