View Full Version : LOL!! MARTHA COOKS "ILLEGAL JELLY" HanginOn 10-20-2004, 02:59 PM http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/20/news/newsmakers/martha_jailjam/index.htm rd962 10-20-2004, 03:32 PM "This is too funny!!!" LOL Retired-26 10-20-2004, 03:36 PM lol!!! that is hilarious! MESLS 10-20-2004, 04:16 PM I say 'good for Martha'... cjjack 10-20-2004, 05:05 PM Actually, if she really did do this, it is not against the rules. She would have had to cook her jelly in the microwave though, and I can't see her having the supplies make jelly!! kintml2u 10-20-2004, 05:18 PM Everyone would have had to donate sugar for the cause.... :D Must be a "team effort" if it's true! but...I thought crab apples were not good for things like jelly? HanginOn 10-20-2004, 05:31 PM but...I thought crab apples were not good for things like jelly? Beats me, I'm NO Martha. The only thing I know about apples is there are red kinds and green kinds :D Retired-10 10-20-2004, 05:33 PM Everyone would have had to donate sugar for the cause.... :D Must be a "team effort" if it's true! but...I thought crab apples were not good for things like jelly? Silly kintml...it's MARTHA! She can do anything with any kind of food! She's like...the MacGyver of cooking. Crab apples may not be good for the rest of us...but Martha...she can make a thanksgiving dinner out of it. :) point of light 10-20-2004, 06:55 PM I wonder if she's learned how make Prison Hot Fudge yet.... a large Hershey's bar melted in the microwave with a couple of carmels...a big hit on commissary day...served over ice cream! kintml2u 10-20-2004, 07:03 PM lol...we have a crab apple tree in the back yard. The best use our's gets is it gives our dog a false sense that "flavored balls grow on trees". And...of course the deer like it. Besides that..we haven't done nothing with them! Point...that actually sounds good! point of light 10-20-2004, 08:03 PM If the guys can figure out how to make hot fudge, then Martha will really teach the gals how to cook gourmet with commissary ingrediants, plants found on the compound and a simple microwave. She's got to be the ultra "girl-scout" in that camp! justvicki 10-20-2004, 08:51 PM It's amazing what can be done with stuff off of commissary and a microwave! When I was at Alderson, the ladies would make popcorn balls with microwave popcorn, caramels, Snickers candy bars, and honey. They would make cheese cakes with vanilla wafers, pudding packs, cream cheese, and crushed canned pineapple. They made nacho's with chili and cheese dip, fried rice, and I can't begin to list what was done with ramen noodles, jalapeno's, summer sausage, cheese, and sazon goya seasoning (to which I am now addicted). Not to mention that you in the summer you have the opportunity to plant your own garden plot and harvest and eat/cook fresh veggies! Let me tell you, Martha and her crabapple jelly can't hold a candle to these women! :) HanginOn 10-21-2004, 07:37 AM It's amazing what can be done with stuff off of commissary and a microwave! He loves the summer sausage also. meowmachine 10-21-2004, 09:47 AM lol...we have a crab apple tree in the back yard. Point...that actually sounds good! I pick crab apples at the park... and add them to the apples that I get from my parents' trees (bigger apples) and add some pears... and make applesauce. Crab apples are excellent for applesauce because they are so very tart. alice :p Zelda50 10-21-2004, 02:00 PM As long as she doesn't ferment them, she'll probably be O.K.... LOL! Zelda meowmachine 10-21-2004, 03:10 PM As long as she doesn't ferment them, she'll probably be O.K.... LOL! Zelda I've never tried making crab apple wine. That would be an interesting taste sensation... maybe. alice point of light 10-21-2004, 07:47 PM Hey I have an idea....what about a collection of prison recipes, organized, and mailed as Christmas gifts? Anybody interested? kintml2u 10-21-2004, 08:06 PM Would be a good idea! Infact, I was gonna see if everyone would chip in to make sure our federal members who have left us to begin their journey gets plenty of Holiday Cheer! We have to let them know they are with us...no matter where their residence is at the current moment! point of light 10-21-2004, 08:30 PM Is there a way we could open a forum in which people could submit recipes? Yes, Holiday Cheer! I started with sending Dan3rd a Halloween Card! Rando 10-21-2004, 09:43 PM Add a little sugar....a little time, hidden in a jar in the toilet tank and she'll have some really lovely crabapple wine. She's going to be very popular at Alderson....ha ha ha. PatitoDeHule 10-22-2004, 11:33 AM Everyone would have had to donate sugar for the cause.... :D Must be a "team effort" if it's true! but...I thought crab apples were not good for things like jelly? When I was a kid, crabapple jelly was one of my favorite treats. We used johnathans for applesauce. My grandfather had an apple orchard (delicious and johnathans) and he'd pick them all off the ground. With the good ones, my grandmother would make apple sauce. If they were rotten or wormy, he'd take them down to the cider mill to make apple cider of apple sauce. Needless to say, I never cared much for the commercial cider and sauce.
