My friend just got transfered their and I would gladly appreciate any info on the prison . He told me he heard that their is only 4 phones their and their is a 2 week waiting list for a 15 min phone call . Is this true? He told me that before he got transfered its just what a inmate told him. Also how long does the mail take to get to them in their espesially if their new. And what are the rules for mail. And anythign else . Thanks so much he just was transfered from wasco to cmc and he didnt even know he was going their he thought he was going to either lancast or chino. cmc is so far away from me and his family it sucks . well please help me thanks so much God bless!

Well my baby is also at CMC east he likes it very much. It is somewhat laid back compared to all of the other prisons in Cali but like you wrote mail is extremly slow it takes 10 to 14 days to recieve the mail, at least in our case. But in general it is a nice place. I am out in Elk Grove so it is a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive from me but it is well worth it. We had the chance to move him closer but he is very comfortable there and we decided it ws best he stay there. If you have any questions let me know and I will try to help. Sherrie, my fiance is also at CMC - East Facility. Just like Drena mentioned, CMC is one of the better more relaxed CA prisons. What you heard about the phones is incorrect. If an inmate has a job or is going to school he can usually sign up to receive a 15 minute phone call every other day. If the inmate does not have a job or isn't going to school than he can only use the phone once a month.

As far as the mail, it is pretty slow. My mail to him usually takes 10 days for him to receive, but his mail to me only takes 3 to 4 days for me to receive. I have noticed that if you put his cell number on the outside of the envelope near his address, the mail tends to get to him a little bit faster. You want to address the envelope like this....

Looks like you have gotten pretty good info here! It is correct the mail there is slow, due to I believe they only have two guards in the mail room, but mail to us comes alot quicker!

I just found out they switched him to the west side he is sharing a cell with a guy who is doing a life sentance and all he did was break his probation for being under the influence, hes going to be getting transfered to another prison I guess the east side are cabin like and he has a misdemeoner <cant spell :p for some stupid fire stunt he pulled when he was teen and they wont allow him to be their because they think he s a threat what bullshit so they thrown him in with murders adn stuff or whatever I dotn understand that . He said the west side is alot differant then the east he said its pretty scary. Im praying for him I got to talk to him for free because I had to break the news to him that his grandpa died , I felt so bad. His counsler let him call me to tell him, so things are up and down right now Im just so worried for him. thanks for all the help God bless you all and your familys. I just cant wait for this to be over with in March.

Well alot of guys are in there who have commited murders doesnt mean they are all bad! And West side is for minimum security inmates not crazed criminals! Anyways Glad you talked to him!

Speaking of CMC East Facility, did anyone hear anything about there being some type of water problem on A quad? I'm not sure if this is true but I heard that they were having to move the guys from A quad to different quads because they need to get them out of A quad because of the water problem or something like that?????

Yeah, the roof on A yard building that faces the parking lot leaked major. They moved most of those guys to B until it is fixed.

My fiance is going to transfer to CMC after his parole hearing as he is parolling to San Luis Obispo and I will be setting up house for us there. Do they still have Thursday and Friday visiting or just weekends?
I can't wait to be able to go see him every weekend!

Well yes A yard has a leak on the 3rd teir and they have a bunch of plastic above the roof. When I was up there last week, they were still in their own cells. I believe they still are.

And Raven no they only have Sat and Sunday visits now. Have fun!

RavensWitch, like Candy said we only have visiting on Saturdays & Sundays and some major holidays. The major holidays are Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, 4th of July & Labor Day. The visiting hours for Saturday's, Sunday's & the major holidays I lisited are from 9:00am - 3:45pm.

Also, because of the roof leaking on A Quad I found out that they transferred all the guys on A Quad over to B & C Quad. So you know there's going to be major things going on. I just called CMC and I was told that the East Facility is on lockdown. I asked the lady if it was because of the roof leak on A Quad and she said, "well that's part of the reason," so who knows what else happened. I asked her if there was still going to be visiting this weekend and she said that I would have to call back tomorrow between 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
