I would appreciate if anybody could help me with a few questions I have. My guy is in Cochran (SATF) his release date is Feb 1, 2005. His wants to request an out of state transfer of his parole back to Massachusetts. He is originally from there and that is where his family lives. The first of November is when he will apply and is having his mother write a letter as well as pay his restitution. She asked me exactly what the letter should say, I explained that family and employment are important issues, but is there anything else that would be significant to add in this letter. Plus whom really is it addressed to?

And does anybody really think that this will fly? Prior to the time he is doing now he was not on parole, he had discharged his number about two years ago. But of course this conviction gave him a second CDC number. Years back on his first number I guess he made a transfer request, was approved, but didn’t leave. His offenses are all drug related (non-violent)

So if anybody has any advice and/or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks...

My son is trying to do the same thing, he has been going through his counselor who sets it up..I am also trying to find out if there is anything I can do myself besides the counselor....but that's what they are there for

I have heard that you need to request the transfer through the parole board stating that is where his employment and support system is but also the state where you go has to be willing to accept them.

I am in the process too with my husband he gets out early next year too. His counselor ONLY places the request to the PO and they take care of the rest. Call the county where he is going to parole to in Cali and ask for his PO then tell them that he wants a transfer. You do not need to write a letter to them. If he has family there he will be transfered. They can not refuse his transfer to another state. But if you request it BEFORE he paroles it is much faster than if he gets out and then request it. If you look under the "Parole and Probation" Forum there is a link to "THe Interstate Compact Transfer" and it explains it all to you in detail

I cant even get a consideration to get my brother paroled from Bakersfield to Sacramento.

I told to his "Agent" yesterday and she couldnt have been more wicked, foul, vile and unprofessional.

I told her I wanted his parole transferred to Sac because he has no support system in Bakersfield and her response was not only no, but hell no.

She asked what good would it do anyways. I told her at least he would have somehwere to live and she told me I was making excuses for him.

She said Sacramento's intake is closed and they wont take parolees who are bad like my brother.

?????

Im so stuck.
