How long has reception been taking? It used to be 5 weeks only and my husband has been there for months. He wants me to call his counselor and ask him "real nicely" if he'd go see him. I guess he feels that until the counselor actually talks to him he won't be going anywhere. Is it wise to call? I don't want to piss them off. And getting approval to visit, how long is this taking? And my last question is has anyone heard of time being lowered to 35% in any cdc program, facility, or firecamp? My husband heard mention of this in county jail. Is this a false rumor, something that might happen, or a true fact?

You can call his councler, do you know who he is? He should be in reception, they say no more than 90 days but it is taking a little bit longer because all the prisons are over crowded, but if he has been there for 5 months then you defianltly should call his councler...as for the visiting form, that takes no more than 60 days to get approved and they will let you hunny know when you are approved not you, but I went before they told me or my husband and I got in and two weeks later they finally told him I was approved. As for the 35% I am going to say that for right now it is just a rumor, there are no facts on it, but if you read the forum regarding the 35% they will tell you that it is in fact happening at some prisons. So who knows...good luck!

Hi Missjimmy
My man was at Donovan Reception since April and just got transfered to Chino Sept 6 and is still in central reception up there so the process can be a long one. It took me about 45 days to get approved to visit.
As to the 35% thing it only applies to those in conservation camps (fire camps)
Since it went into effect last may there's been some confusion that it may apply to the general population but it does not.
Here's a link to the the rules on the 35% thing on the CDC website.

Look at work time credits.
Hope that helps

I know how crazy it makes you waiting for him to get moved. I've been waiting since the first week in August! He saw his counsler in the beginning of Sepetmber. Hopefully they will be moved soon. He also heard about the 35% thing in county but his counsler gave him 85%. I've also heard that this changes when they get to their final location. Who really knows, I guess it gives us something to hope for,.

Hi All
Well I'm happy to finally report my man is out of reception. He was at Donovan since April 6, 2004 then went to central reception in Chino and yesterday he was moved to the MSF yard (minimum support facility) And we are both very happy with this final move.
Also as noted in another post his counselor pulled his original out date that was exactly 50% of his sentence and said rather that he would have a sentence review on his 1 year annivesary. So if that becomes his new out date or close to, that would be 35%.
Interesting?
A happier now that he's mainlined
