My boyfriend wrote me a very positive letter. In it he said, that he had a good week...he was told that he wasn't going to be gated.

"What does being gated mean?"

I had visions pop into my head...that my man has been put in solitaire every week,(no he hasn't) and this week he wasn't going to be GATED......huh?

According to http://dictionary.prisonwall.org/

"Gated out: To be released from prison."

Based on what you said, he found out he wasn't going to be released.

We'll maybe it means they are not going to make him do the whole time. As he was quite happy about not being Gated.

"gating" or are-arresting these prisoners as they are released, returning them to custody as dangers to society -

so the bottom line is if he is NOT being gated that is GOOD news
