My b/f P/E date is 3/14/05. But a SATP class was stipulated on his parole. He says he has to be there for 60 days before he can get in the class and that there is a 30 day waiting list and then the class is 90 days long. He is scared he is going to pass his P/E date having to take this class. So I guess my question is if the class is going to make him pass his P/E date can he take it on the outside after he is paroled and if so who would I call to see?

If the board stipulated him with the class, he will have to take it before he can be released. Im assuming that if he goes past his TE date then once the class is completed he will be released then.

i have been attending the Post prison Transfer Board meetings (open to the public) and the Board members have been asking the DOC about inmates having to wait to be released (because of the back-up) to get into these programs, be completed and then released.
the DOC has repeatedly said that there is only a limited back-up and that those ready for release will be given priority (you can tell) that the Board is not really believing this.
ANYWAY! Bill Walker and Leroy Brownlee have asked this question the most and you may want to contact one of them and ask what can be done etc. 5016823850
Just a thought

Pods - we had an issue that may interest you. In march, The board stipulated my husband take classes, but the class administrator denied him the same month. We spent from March - September stuck between the two. The board (Lary Zeno) knew it and just got mad (at the reconsideration hearing) that the class administrator wouldn't let him in. John Felts told me the board had power to MAKE class administrator let him in but it was immediately following that that Felts, and Brownlee quit returning my calls or letters. We finally found out in September that my husband was on the waiting list (I had my state representitive call the board) and they said my husband would be enrolled in December. Then we got a lucky break, he was enrolled early - started 2 days ago as a matter of fact.
I'M SURE OTHER INMATES ARE STUCK IN THIS POSITION - IN A POWER PLAY BETWEEN CLASS ADMINISTRATORS AND THE BOARD.

if you called his parole officer they would know and ask if that might be possible

The only way to take a class on the outside vs inside, once a class has been stipulated is to ask for a reconsideration hearing. Get him accepted into an outside class and then have him ask for a reconsideration hearing, and he'll go back before the board.
Warning, it doesn't often work.
We were like, "we're accepted on the outside, grandma's gonna die before i get out" and they were like "you committed the crime, you take the class, you shoulda thought about grandma before you committed the crime."
But a reconsideration hearing is the ONLY way around it.

p.s., and yes, if you pass your TE date then you take the class and when you graduate from class THEN they'll check out your parole plan and send u home.

awww, thanks pods! I've done a lot of fighting, but i really don't know if it ultimately did any good. they do what they want, when they want to! It's not been easy dealing w/this. and when i called the rep she SCREACHED at me regarding the details of my husband's charges. unpleasantness on top of unpleasantness.
Thanks so much for the words of encouragement!
