Hello Everyone,

Ok, here is the start of my 101 Reception Center ?'s!! LOL

I need to know how much paper and pre stamped-envelopes (embossed) and or clear pens you can send to a Reception Inmate these prisons: Wasco, Delano and Teachapi. Also, if anyone has the extention #'s for the mailrooms at these prison, it would be great!!

I haven't dealt with those particular recep centers but when I sent writing packages to Tracy DVI I sent in 20 envelopes,50 sheets of binder paper and 4 clear ink pens and it got in fine.

I was told the following by the Mail Room Supervisor at Donovan and she said it applied as standard guidelines for all reception facilities.

Reception inmates can recieve:

20 prestamped envelopes or a book of 20 stamps and 20 envelopes.
Up to 50 sheets of paper per mailing(yellow lined letter size perfered, removed from it's binder)
5 Clear Bic pens sealed in the original package (some facilites open and remove the caps and end plugs for saftey?)
20 4x6 photos
Special Occasion Cards must be your standard card(no attachments, metal springs, music players)

Send these items in a Manila Envelope and remove the little metal tab on the back. Identify on the outside of the envelope that it contains blank paper, stamps, pens, ect.

I've done this every month for the last 8 months and my man recieved all items every time.

If you mean North Kern reception when you asked about Delano, their mail restrictions are listed in the first post in the North Kern State Prison-California thread in the"Other California Prisons" forum . No pens, no more than 10 photos at a time,10 sheets of paper at a time, no books.

As far as Wasco This is what I have sent. It doesnt mean that other things arent excepted, I just know what they did except from me to my husband.


You can send up to 20 stamp envelopes at one time
A package of loose leaf paper (also known as Binder paper) Must be in the wrapper.
Money order can come from anywhere doesnt have to come from post office.
Any checks would get a 30 day hold.
Pens I am not sure
2 papper back books from the company (barnes and noble amazon etc etc)
No more then 10 pics at one time Name and cdec number has to be on them.


Hope that helps. I call 661 758 8400 The operator will put ya through to the mail room. They are really nice there. They will go down the list with you. They have with me more then once. LOL I just forget half the times. I need to write it down next time I call. LOL

My husband is in Wasco and been there since Aug. He is in a level 1 and hasnt seen his counselor yet.

Oh yeah one more thing. If your loved one needs his glasses you can send them to him put attention the Eye Clinic and nothing else in the box with the glasses and they will give them to him. It took my husband about 3 weeks but he did get them

Thank you so much for all the info!! Once I find out what prison my son is at, I want to get a package off to him ASAP!! So he can start sending out those visiting forms!! :)
