To anyone who may be able to help me, or know someone who may be able to help me, Cash is the co-chairman of his N/A class, but get this... they have absolutely NO LITERATURE!!! Is this crazy or what??? I am looking for someone who can donate all the literature I can get, or for someone to please direct me to someone that may be able to help me with this. How sad it is to have a group full of men who come to class everyday, and have nothing to study... I guess they just sit around and twiddle their thumbs! And prison is supposed to be about rehabilitation... whatever! They told them it was their responsibility to get their own literature... well, maybe they could just run right out to the store and buy some! I'm sorry I am so angry, but everyday it seems like there is more and more bull inside, and I feel so bad for them all! PLEAASE if anyone knows where I can recieve help, PM me... I emailed N/A World Services and am waiting on a reply... thanks for letting me vent a little there!By the way, we are in the state of North Carolina...

Find a local NA site in your town and ask them where their literature is available..Usually its at a specialized bookstore locally and they direct their members where to buy it...it's not cheap either...this is a prison program? What kind of prison doesn't have the NA handbook available..I suppose I could copy some of it from the book I have - but it doesn't belong to me or I'd send it to you..Do they have the 12 steps to work on - I'm sure the National NA could send some of its brochures at least...and the story of BILL...the founder. It's pretty interesting reading...some of this stuff is available in large bookstores as well...

Here's literature that can be Printed and sent out to him. These pamphlets are read
at most meetings
Whose an Addict
What is an NA program
Why are we here
How it works
The 12 Traditions of NA
Just For Today
When he opens the meetings, he has different folks read different pamphlets.

Hope this helps

You also might want to contact the Hospital and Institution coordinator about seeing if there is people who carry the Message of NA into the specific Prison your Husband is located That way he might be able to get a copy of the NA book for others to read and check out if it is not already in the facilities library already.

Thanks alot guys... every little bit helps! It's ridiculous that they don't have this infomation in there for them already, and it would be real interesting to find out what the prison will say about that when I call them tomorrow!

You might try your local NA and ask them about getting some literature mailed to your husband. If you don't know how to get in touch with your local NA, ask the local mental health office. They will know how to get in touch with NA. I hope this helps a little.

Your post made me think. I have had some experience with these recovery organizations and they will bend over backward, if asked, to get literature to wherever it is needed. These people are committed to helping addicts, alcoholics, and family members to have a place to come together with others and they learn from each other, they come from all walks of life.
I have seen groups in the city where I live.. pitch in and buy literature for someone who couldn't afford it. One group needed the AA Big/Book for their meetings, because they had bussed in groups from a nearby Alcohol/Drug Treatment center coming in each week. For many this group was the one they came to after treatment. A moderately well to do man in the group just ordered them and donated them to the group. There are men and women in these groups who genuinely believe that "you can't keep it if you don't give it away". This treatment center was run with local physicians, mental health people, addictions treatment people, and tons of co-operation with Local AA and NA chapters/groups whose members were involved and served as guides for these people coming out of treatment.

Probably if you call AA or NA in your area and ask to talk to someone who is from your area, you will get a better response. Be honest. Be Frank. Say these people over here need some books and they have no money.
You could probably get some help from a church group , or ask at your physicians office.
