Celebrities Voice Their Support For Prop 66 (Fix California's 3 Strikes Law) On Weekly Visits To The Steve Harvey Morning Show Throughout October
Los Angeles--October 4, 2004--In order to "Make the Time Fit the Crime" for repeat offenders receiving a second or third strike, Proposition 66 is on the November ballot in California. Starting Thursday, October 7, The Steve Harvey Morning Show on 100.3 FM/The Beat will feature celebrity guests discussing their support for Prop 66 and the need to get out the vote on Election Day, November 2. Television personality Omarosa will join Harvey this Thursday to show she is no "apprentice" in her commitment to voter education and sensible sentencing for repeat offenders.
Starting Tuesday, October 12, Harvey will begin his "Three Strikes Tuesdays." Urban League President John W. Mack will join Harvey, followed on October 19th, by Mo'Nique and Duane Martin (UPN sitcom "All of Us"). Celebrities are still being booked for October 26. Families to Amend California's Three Strikes Law (FACTS) executives Gail Blackwell - Director of Operations and Geri Silva - Executive Director, will also be in attendance during each show to provide their perspective and specialized information.
A growing list of artists have voiced their support in amending the three strikes law including: Actors Danny Glover, LisaRaye, Ice Cube, Ice T and Tisha Campbell. Recording artists: MC Hammer, E-40, Warren G, Dub C, DJ Battlecat, Fat Joe and the Black Eye Peas. The list continues to grow daily.
According to the California Department of Corrections, almost 65% of those serving second and third strike sentences were convicted of nonviolent, petty offenses such as writing a bad check, stealing a videotape, loaf of bread or a pack of T-shirts.
Proposition 66 will restore the Three Strikes Law to what California voters originally intended - A mandatory 25-to-life sentence for a third violent crime or serious felony.
Other supporters of Proposition 66 include: The San Francisco Chronicle, the Santa Cruz Sentinel, the Orange County Register, the California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, the Mexican-American Political Association (MAPA), the American Civil Liberties Union, the California Association of Black Lawyers and the National Lawyers Guild.
Join with Families to Amend California's Three Strikes (FACTS) to pass this ballot measure by volunteering or making a donation. Most importantly, Vote Yes on 66 on Election Day, November the 2nd.

Folks, THAT is God's voice coming through! Just AWESOME! I work for MTV's Rock The Vote (as a 2nd job) and while I'm out at concerts, I am talking it up to these young cats who really don't know the issues at hand. I'm telling you people: don't just VOTE on Prop.66, TALK ABOUT IT! Talk about it far and wide!
