Wayne calls every Saturday and during the week if anything significant happens (i.e. new information on his release, etc.) Anyway, the price of the phone calls are outrageous. It's $5.89 for the first minute and $0.89 for each additional minute. The phone automatically shuts off after 15 minutes. He said the rate wouldn't be as high if I was in Alabama, but since I'm in another state it's crazy.

When he calls there's a long recording about the rates and that custom calling features are not allowed during the phone call. Yesterday when he called, I answered the call on a cordless phone and about 3 minutes into the phone call the cordless phone beeped, which it does spontaneously every now and then. The stupid recording came back on and said the same crap about custom calling features and disconnected the call. He called back, but I have to pay the outrageous first minute fee all over again. The thing is, I don't have any features on my phone!

It's so frustrating.

I THINK EVERYONE HERE WILL AGREE WITH YOU THAT THE PHONE SYSTEMS SUCK. I KNOW OF NO "POLITER" WAY TO SAY IT--SOMEBODY IS MAKING BIG BUCKS ON OTHERS MISFORTUNE--WHAT IS REALLY BAD IS FOR THOSE WHO SIMPLY CANNOT PAY THE BILLS AND HAVE TO HAVE A BLOCK PUT ON OR THWEIR SERVICE IS DISCONNECTED-CUTTING OFF MOMS AND DADS FROM THEIR KIDS, EACH OTHER...IT IS A TRAGEDY. SOMETHING HAS GOT TO CHANGE SOON
