When I go to visit my bf am I allowed to be strip or cavity searched? Are the guards allowed to search my purse even if I cant take it in?
Does it depend on the security level?

No you cant be stipped searched or cavity searched in a Australian prison, but you can be refused access, for instance, if the believe you are carrying drugs, etc, or fail there drug testing devices,or the sniffer dog picks a drug scent up, or refuse to go through security procedures. If they suspected drugs being carried in, then they contact the police, and only they can do that :( You arent allowed to take your purse in (in high security prisons), lower security prisons, where you are allowed to bring items in, yes they do search. In a high security prison, they give you a locker key, and you place all items in a locker, and you can only take your key into the prison with you. You cant take in money, etc, the vending machines (that only sell drinks) are by tokens, and the inmate needs to purchase the tokens, when they go to canteen each week. You cannot wear revealing clothing, or open toe shoes either.
