can someone please give me some info on bringing in a package to this prison , my brother was just transfered there and needs some stuff, do i need a reciept for everything? does it have to be in a box? i heard that it can only weigh 35lbs and i found a list that was posted for Albion which i assume they are about the same. Also this will be my first time and any other information would be helpful thanks

Hi maggiemo and welcome to the PTO family :)
I moved your thread to the NYS forum where you will get more appropriate answers. I don't know anything about the system in NY, but someone smarter will sure pop up soon :)

hey there welcome to PTO and i have my best friend in WYOMING CF and will go see him next weekend!!! i will share more with you once i return from upstate!!! if you want to feel free to PM me as well
The 35 pounds is for food. You can take as much non-food as you want and it is not counted in the weight. Don't take blue ANYTHING- they kicked out a package of boxers because one had a blue print. No Q-tips, make sure you read ALL labels, they do- absolutely nothing with alcohol, no microwave popcorn. No, you don't need a receipt for everything- I have taken bedding, clothes, books and stuff and never had or needed a receipt. I think that would only be like for shoes and stuff. Everything needs to be an acceptable color and SOLID- I had a shirt kicked out last visit for one lousy stripe I didn't even notice when I bought it.
A word of advice though- I would use bags with handles rather than a box. You staple a tag to each package at the visitation trailer. But it is a LONG walk up a hill to the building you visit in. And be careful of the metal you wear (underwires and stuff)- their detectors are rather high.
I am sure I will think of more while I am working. Feel free to PM me. The COs in the visitation room are pretty cool usually, but the package room guys can go either way depending on who's on. There is one that is a real dickhead (imagine that)
Have a good visit,
Diana

I have a friend in Wyoming as well. You need to have your brother get a list of what they can and can't have because lately they seem to be changing that list. I use to be able to take up chicken that was fully cooked and sealed and now all of sudden they don't want to allow them to have that either. Your best bet is to NOT wear any underwire bra. My last visit I had one on and they made me take it off to go through the metal detector and then I was not allowed to put it back on until I got into the visiting room even though there was a bathroom right in the room where I the metal detector was and where I had taken it off. So don't wear underwire bra's. Also it's best you not bring too many packages since you have to carry them from the one building to the next and you have to walk up there. If you have alot of packages it can be quite the strain. The guards can be cool depending on who is there. There is a festival coming up on November 20th you should see if your brother can get tickets for it. I believe it is a Latino Festival but it's in the gym and I guess it is suppose to be much better than being on a visit and they have food and stuff. I will be there visiting that day with my friend. Well good luck with your visit.

this is the Wyoming thread in PRISON PROFILES, but it is not filled in yet, if one of you can provide answers we would be helping a lot of members with prison info. I can post it if you PM it to me, thanks! Chances are this person is no longer around, she has only ONE post count and it was a few weeks ago...
