It seems my husband will be transferred from diagnostic to Grimes. What can he expect? It really helps me to know what he will be facing at this facility. I guess when you have the facts it makes dealing with it a little easier. It's the not knowing that gets to you I think.

Thanks

;) I don't know alot but I'll try to help. My brother was only there about a month. Visitation for 1's is on Sunday and the others are on Saturday. They have 1 microwave and some vending machines ( I think 2 sandwich and 1 ice cream). They make you wait out on the Highway until they get ready to check the cars in about 11:00. They usually check your car better than most of the units. (Look in the glovebox and all in the car & trunk, sometimes even look at your purse.) I was only there for one visit but I'm pretty sure it was from 12-4. They usually try to make you stay in your car after you get on the lot, but a lot of people don't. You go in and they check your id and check you in and you go to the visitation room. The room is small, but they were adding on at that time, not sure if they're finished. You want to get your food first and try to heat it before they come out or the machines maybe empty and there is only 1 microwave. :blah: It seems like with that many people they would have at least 2.
I hope this helps some about visiting. I'm not real sure about the living conditions since he was only there a short time.

That's ok. I know there are so many with so many questions, many of which I'm sure have been asked and answered many times before. I appreciate more I guess just the contact with others that share my concerns. My husband ended up spending two weeks in diagnostics and was transferred to Grimes yesterday, Tuesday. Thanks again for just being so nice.

My man is at Grimes, but I haven't been to see him. So, I have no idea what visitation is like there. As for the prison itself, Micheal seems to be ok with it. (I guess that he really has no choice in the matter though) He has never said anything about any bad things that happen there. He wouldn't tell me anyways. He knows how much I worry. He did tell me the other night, that alot of guys were going to the hole right now. He just better stay outta trouble. (if that is possible) I hope that helps you out, at least a little bit. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help though.
