Well, I am worried..again! My sweetie is in OKC transit center and was awaiting transfer to USP Lee, Va. I am not being told he will go to Atlanta first for a few weeks then on to Lee. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is it normal?

Don't they also use USP Atanta as a transit center? I can't say its normal...but when do they do things in a "normal" manner? They have to keep reasons to have all these people employeed and what not.

When CON-Air flies...they just keep going in circles! LOL I guess he gets the next flight with available space....sorry...I know this is not funny...but I can't help to joke about CON-Air after my mans experience...& to be again!

That is pretty normal for the Feds. Alanta is another transfer center for them. Sometimes they will stop at 1/2 dozen places before they get to their final destination. They have to have a excuse for spending the money they do.
A guy can be going to be transferred 50 miles away and it can take weeks and they will send him 500 miles away to get to that 50.

Hang in there hun it will be ok.
I have some that go one way and others another. It depends where they have room and which way they are going that have room.
You know they wouldn't want you to understand or figure out anything (sarcasm)

Hang tough it will be all right.

OKC is the last stop on US Marshelss flight. From there he will be picked up at the end of the day and flown to Alanta which is the base for the US Marshells. It is possible when he leaves Atanltia he could go to Florida, but that isn't for sure, they don't make that stop often. And if he does it won't be over night, he won't even get off the plane.

The whole process is a cycle and they do it for their convience.

I hope this helps you some.

His chaplin told me he would go to atlanta for a few weeks then on to virginia. I am hoping so much that he can get to a phone when he gets to atlanta. HOPING HOPING HOPING

Just a bit of useless info, in 2000 I worked as an ndt inspector for an outfit there in oklahoma city as a contract employee. I worked the marshalls conair airplanes. I remember seeing the inmates being led onto the airplane, at that time I never knew I would be dating or marrying one, lol :)

My Sweetie and I live in WV. He was picked up in NC while visiting his sister. The feds put him on a bus to Atlanta, where he stayed only 1 day. Put him on a plane--flew him to NY for a layover, (don't know why) THEN took him to OK where he stayed for a month before bringing him back here to WV.

Then they put him in a state jail in Charleston, (capital city) for a court date...transported him back down here to the jail near me, for a month for another court date, then back to Charleston for his sentencing where he stayed a month, then finally brought him back down here to the federal prison where I live. IT WAS AWFUL trying to keep up with him.

Now in April when he goes back for evaluation, he may get moved again to a low security, which is 3 hours away. I hate those transitions just as much as he does. When I find out that they move him, it just rips my heart out because they don't like to let anyone know anything. "For security reasons" they once told me. ARGH!! Can't wait till he comes home.

He probably will be there in OK for a few weeks. That is the way it usually works, but not always,

Good luck

Thank you to all who have responded. He is in atlanta now. I keep staying close to the phone hoping he will be able to make a phone call. I sure do hope they don't put him back in the hole again. It is so very hard trying to make wedding plans when we can't talk on the phone.

Yes fly, I too checked with my hubby and when he was moved to Wisconsin he had two stops. He was in OKC for a few weeks. I will ask him more how that stay was. He has never been to Atlanta. Let me know anything else I can check on. It sounds like softheart has the scoop too, thank goodness!
Take care and hang in there. I know waiting for the phone call is one of the hardest parts....

From personal experience, I can tell you that this is normal. A little "Con-Air" mixed with a dose of "diesal therapy." It can take quite some time for him to get to his designated facility particularly around the holidays. Things should be picking up now and he should be moved. Do not be surprised however if he gets hung up in USP-Atlanta for a few weeks.

Thanks everyone who responded. I got a quick call from him last night around 10:30 pm. There wasn't any recording so i assume he made it from the counselors office. He told me he can call on tues. and thurs. I am so very relieved. He also asked me to remail the proxy papers, said he couldnt take them out of OKC and he was unable to get them notarized there but is hopeful he can do it in ATL. I sent him his monthly monies with the papers, not sure if he will be able to go to the commisary in Atl or not, but I don't like the thought of him going without.

Thanks John. I was afraid he would be bused from ATL to VA. I kinda figured they dont fly into Lee and thats why he was sent to ATL, to take a bus with others.
