OK here it goes,
I'm 26 years old and have a BA in social work. I have plans to get my masters and become a licensed clinical social worker, but I have this problem with procrastination, lol.
One of my lifes dreams is to eventually open my own practice. The other is to be a mom. There is nothing more in this world that I desire than to have children but unfortunately I have to wait until my honey comes home.
We have been togther for about 4 years but have been friends since 1995. He is still my best friend and soul mate. (sorry I get alittle giddy when I think about him :) )
I currently work for the department of children and families in Florida. Before this I was doing counseling in NY for children at risk of entering the foster care system. These children and their parents have issues ranging from sexual abuse, physical abuse, drug use, domestic violence and many many others. I have also worked in a drug treatment center, a detox center in a hospital, a group home for developmentally disabled adults as well as in a daytreatment center as a supervisor. I always knew I wanted to do social worker but the final push was after dating a heroin addict for 4 years. I do not regret one minute of dating him as many would, the things that I learned from that experience could never be absorbed from a book.
Besides working endless hours, and lately spending tons of time on PTO; I also enjoy sports (GO YANKEES!) and competed in gymnastics for many years until I tore a bunch of ligaments in my knee. OUCH!
I also love to travel, he and I have been to 5 different countries together and I have travel to others before we began dating. Our first trip upon his release will be to Prague. From what we hear it is the most beautiful city in the world. Both being first generation american we understand the diversity and culture that this world has to offer and truly enjoy seeing it.
I was never online much at all until one night while browsing yahoo I found this G-D sent place call PTO! I again would like to thank David for following his dream of this place. I would also like to thank all the PTO members for there time and guidance, and mostly for showing me that I am not alone!!!
Well that's enough about me, if I left anything out ask away...

Hi and the best of luck. Prague is supposed to be the most beautiful city. Just a question, is he in a Federal Prison? The reason I ask, is that Craig wants to come over here to Australia next year when he gets out, but I have heard that the Australian authorities won't let him. We'll see about that, though. So when you and he go to Europe, what happens then? Have you come across any problems re. visa applications being refused?

You are following my dream.... If I could do only a portions of what you have acomplished, I would be a very happy person. When you help others, you have donated a part of yourself to history that will mean more that just the day to day hum drum that most of us live.

Congrats to you girl.... Go for it and get that degree...

Thanks Donna, I truly appreciate the support and recognition.
I am starting to get on the abll about graduate school (with an extra push from JDswifey).

Here's a quote you might like:

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of house I lived in. What kind of car I drove, or how much money I had in my bank account. But it will matter if I made a difference in the life of a child."

Jennifer,
I'm not one to talk but if you don't follow you dreams how will you know if you missed out on something special. When I worked in the group home for MR/DD adults people use to ask me how can you do that. I always said (and still feel) that I got so much more from them than I gave to them. I truly learned what unconditional love was from them, among tons of other things.

that's so true. I know it's true but at this moment I'm not really acting like it :( I just know that I don't want to sit around the house when I'm like 80 years old, regretting all the things I never done or never tried,
