Hi there..The drug Vioxx was recalled by the manufacturer Merck today (not the FDA) the manufacurer. This is big! The reason? They discovered it could cause strokes and heart attacks...it is prescribed for everything from cramps to arthritis..so I suggest you check with loved ones, especially older people and be sure they stop taking it. I am sure the pharmacy that prescribed it will be contacting everyone they prescribed it for. This drug was a big money maker for Merck....soooo lots of folks are on it. Thank you so much for the info! When I was in a minor car accident a couple months ago, my doctor gave me a bunch of vioxx samples to take. I only took it for a week, but I still have some samples left that I will DEFINITLEY be throwing away!

I was on it briefly, had trouble breathing. I was switched to Celebrex which didn't work. Now I'm on OxyContin and it has it's drawbacks too. Too bad they can't make a drug for pain that has no side effects whatsoever.
