Does anyone know anything about work furlogh? How much does it cost and how hard is it to get into?

The way it usually works is the person has to be at least 4 months to the
gate. And also if there is a bed avaiable. However this does not include
parole violators. As far as cost? I don't think so. But don't quote me on this
as I may be wrong. Suzi

My husband has 139 days left and is not a parole violator. He is from Santa Clara County. Do they look at that when accepting them into the Oakland work furlogh? I heard something about being released back into your own county. Does that also mean being released into a program like that?

I think so. Why would he be going to Oakland on a work furlough if he is
from Santa Clara County? And yes it is true, that where ever he last lived,
or was commited out of, meaning that's where he was arrested and possibly
lived, he would be paroled to that community. Unless of course he has a parole transfer. He could be sent to what I would call a half way house prior
to release, but he is the one that would have to ask for that type of transfer
from the main prison that he is at. I am assuming he is in San quentin which
is Marin County, just as Oakland is. They just don't send prisoners to work
furlough unless they request it. Hope this is helpful to you. Suzi

I was told that there is no more work furlough. Is that true? Can someone also please explain what that is? Do go to their counsler and request that? Are only certain inmates allowed to participate in work furlough? Please let me know ASAP!!! Where are teh locations? I thought that it was one in San Francisco or is that shut down?

FYI.... Oakland is definitly not in Marin County. It's in Alameda County.
