One thing close to my heart (due to some up close and personal experiences) is the increasingly scary incidences of kids being sent to adult prisons. Anyone have any ideas on who to contact in this area? I've found a couple of web sites but could use some advice on how to get into the trenches.
As usual, you all have my thanks.

I know that you can ask the judge at sentencing to make recommendations/orders for the juvenile to be held in a juvenile facility until a certain age... and this can be up to age 21 now... (at least in IL).... This was SUPPOSED to happen for my JD, but somehow the paperwork didn't get done so ON his 17th birthday he was sent to Joliet CC... one of the roughest adult facilities in the state.... I know this put him in a bad situation where he often felt he had to "prove himself".... which led to the loss of good time which is why he will be in til 2005 instead of 2003!

I noticed that you are from AZ so i found this for that state, if you need any other state please let me know but for AZ I would try this site. Once you are at it go to Presiding Juvenile Judges and Juvenile Court Directors. That is at least a place to start. They have many links and those responsible for sending juveniles to adult institutions would be the best place to start. Judges, probation officers and don't forget about your state representatives and senators.
