Meet inmate 55170-054

Martha Stewart has been called many things - the diva of domesticity, the arbiter of all good things, the princess of potpourri.
Now she's got a new, somewhat less catchy moniker: Inmate No. 55170-054.
Late last week, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons assigned Stewart an official inmate number that will follow her during her stay in the system.
The agency will decide soon where Stewart will serve her five-month sentence for her conviction on conspiracy, obstruction of justice and other criminal charges. She's been ordered to start her term by Oct. 8.
Turning her divaness into a mere number is just the first slight in what's expected to be a humiliating autumn and winter.
On the Bureau of Prisons Web site, Stewart is now listed by her inmate number, her age (63) and her race (white). Her projected release date is listed as "unknown" because she has not yet been assigned to a facility.
Stewart has said she would prefer to do her time at either the minimum-security camp for women in Danbury, Conn., which is near two of her homes, or at a similar camp in Coleman, Fla., near Orlando.
Last week, at Stewart's request, Manhattan Federal Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum added her voice to the matter, recommending Stewart go to either facility.
Both Danbury and Coleman are overcrowded and not taking new prisoners, but that situation could change at any moment. Or the Bureau of Prisons could simply send Stewart somewhere else entirely.
Stewart's representatives did not return calls seeking comment. A Bureau of Prisons spokesman declined to discuss Stewart's assignment.
