The Stanley Correctional Institution is a 750 cell, medium-security, adult male prison located just outside of Stanley, Wisconsin, south of Highway 29. When fully operational, the facility is expected to employ 405 workers in various fields including correctional officers, social workers, teachers, health professionals, food service and clerical staff.

The state of Wisconsin purchased the Stanley Correctional Institution in October of 2001. The institution is situated on a 100-acre plot, with 43 acres inside the perimeter. It encompasses 400,000 square feet of building space, including an intake/ health services unit, a food services/laundry unit, a 124-bed segregation unit, an education/vocational unit, two multi-purpose units, an industries unit, and five inmate housing units.

Vocational and academic programs will be available to the inmate population as well as work assignments in the areas of food services, maintenance, industries, laundry, clerk positions, janitorial positions, and so on.

My son is in SCI and his ex-girlfriend abandoned their baby girl. He is trying to get the Guardian ad Leidum to understand that he,as the father, should be allowed visits with his daughter. The GAL said that Prison is not an appropriate place for children to visit. Stanley Corr Inst has an awesome visitation center, with a place for familes to play together. They have a great selection of books for parents and children to read together and an assortment of age appropriate toys to interactively play with. How can I get the Guardian ad Leidum to see that this is just not a location with a glass partition and a phone/intercom system? The GAL is leaning towards giving guardianship to someone who is willing to take his daughter there once a month...if it is convenient for them. While I on the otherhand am willing to take his daughter there 3 days a week to keep the relationship secure for the future when he is released. Are there any pictures or discriptions available of the SCI and their positive family visitation area?

I don't think the guardian ad leidem has any say in this...
they are to decide who should be the guardian and trust that they will make good decisions for the child. Then work with the guardian to retain visiting rights for yourself as the grandparent and take them with you on a visit.

My own opinion on the matter though.... taking a child to visit in prison really depends on how old they are and how long the parent has to serve.
I do agree that the relationship should be there, but not 3 times a week. But I'll keep my opinions to myself

well i was just recently released from stanley like 14 months ago and i met the most wonderful man i have ever met. When i went to go visit my fiance on my birthday we where faced with a very difficult situation. I should let you all no that i am a pre-op transexual and when i went to go see him i looked just like a female ass you may see from my picture. I used the lady's room about 3 times during our visit and there was no problem until the last time i used the restroom. Long story short there was 1 officer that i had altercations with while i was incarcerated and and he waited by the bathroom door until i came out and asked me what was i doing in the womens bathroom and eventually our visit got terminated. I was very upset because he outed me in front of other visitors and also inmates and when my fiance returned to his housing unit he was confronted by other inmates about the situation even though we didnt hide our feelings for each other while we where there. Stanley Correctional Institution really need to train there staff better dealing with respecting people and minimizing altercations. i was able to go back and i had to be escorted to the restroom bby a correctional officer which was very embarrassing but you no i will do anything for my baby so it was worth all the trouble i guess

Hello everyone I am in a great need of help I have a brother by the name of Leroy Stanton that I have not seen in 16 years I am pretty sure he doesn't remember me or how I look but I have to find him because my older brother recently passed today and I really need to talk to him I don't know how to go about should I write him a letter to see if I can visit him I just don't wanna get shot down because we have not seen each other in 16 years that's a long time. If anyone out there has a family member that know Leroy Stanton tell him that his long lost sister is trying to reach him. if you reach him please leave me a message on here thanks I would sure appreciate that if any one has someone that knows or seen him.

If you're talking about their inmate numbers then yes, they keep the same numbers when they are relocated. My friend has been relocated several times.
