If addressed properly, in most cases money should be posted to an inmate account the day it is received by the institution or the next day (excluding weekends and holidays).

PO BOX FOR MONEY ONLY
Family and friends must use the following address to send money to inmates housed at RCI & STF. This new address is for money only. Do not include any notes or letters with checks or money orders. SPECIAL HISTORICAL NOTES AND OTHER INSTITUTIONAL INFORMATION
Although the Racine Correctional Institution officially opened its doors on May 6, 1991, part of the facility was the former St. Bonaventure Prep School. St. Bonaventure was founded in 1901 in Pulaski, Wisconsin. Originally, the school's goal was to prepare Polish youth for priesthood. The Franciscans who ran the school wanted a location to draw students from the larger Polish populations of Milwaukee and Chicago. In 1921, they moved to Sturtevant. As the years passed and interest in priesthood decreased, the school's focus changed to preparing young men for college. In 1982, money difficulties forced the school to decide closing after graduation the following year. In 1983, the school closed and eventually was converted into the Racine Correctional Institution. In 2003, Racine Correctional Institution (RCI) opened the Sturtevant Transitional Facility (STF), which houses 150 inmates.

I was at Racine Correctional Institution for about 9 months in 2004-2005. I don't have a lot of experience in judging prisons, but it did not seem that bad as others I have heard about in the state. It has a pretty good AODA program, but the program does not count towards early release because it is only four months long. Not the required six. DOC does a lot of that crap. The guards, as most, have brains the size of walnuts. It is a power trip for them. But I found that they leave you alone if you just go about your business. They are happy to graze in the kitchen most of the time. The units are basically clean and comfortable, however there are two units, Milwaukee and Kenosha that are max - medium units. That means they are locked in at times and have a sink and toilet in the cell. Not good. The library is pretty good except the commandant sargent that runs it. He likes to search your feet. Weird. Another nazi there is the jerk that watches the gym. Boarder line psyco. I guess it could have been worse.

you were right, RCI is not that bad compared to other places in WI. Now, RYOCF on the other hand, is the worst. Above the max's, for sure (green bay is the worst max in my opinion). i was perplexed when i first learned that this was the worst, but to quote a friend, "those young ones like to fight." when i went there (also went to RCI the same day), i learned that this actually is true. Any questions PM me, i can't say too much here.

Just was wondering what you knew about RYOCF that makes you think its so bad as prisions go? My brother is there and he tells me its not that bad just a lot more fights but if you stay out of trouble yourself you are fine.

Fights might make one think it is a bad prison to go to. I think they call it a gladiator school.

I know that my ex is at RCI, and I miss him. The last time I had talked to him he was at RYOCF. I want to write to him, but I don't know his housing unit. Is there some way I could find that info out? Thanks...
