if an inmate is given an 8 month defer, is there any possibility that he can get out before that 8 months is up? thanks so much

yes, he can appeal to the parole board chairman. Also he will see the board in 6 monthsd instead of the 8 because they see him two months early

i have a question about the statistics from the first post on this page... were you talking about Oakhill, the Center, or the Farm? operating compacity at 300 and current population at 600, doesn't seem good at all. if this was spread out over all 3 it wouldn't be so incredibly bad.

Glad to find others with loved ones at Oakhill that I can talk with. Besides letters, I am trying to find out what other items I can send to make life a little easier for my hubby while he is there. Also, it would really help our kids to be able to send things to Dad, they worry about him alot. Any suggestions or information will be sincerely appreciated.

Hi,

My boyfriend was just transferred there last week. How is it there? Does your husband like it at Oakhill as far as the treatment and everything?

My friend is coming up on his PRC and he thinks one of his options might be Oakhill. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the Visiting. Mainly about the play area? Is there an outside one? Are there toys inside? How is it for kids to visit there? He has two rambunctious little boys that come to visits and was wondering about it. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks... I was hoping for a response before I write him back. I have a brother and my "family friend" in prison. My family friend who I was asking about is in Chippewa Falls right now. My brother was in Oakhill. I remember visiting him there, but I never went outside with him. I know there is a small area with a few toys and lots of books, inside, but he was there over 2+ years ago so I was wondering if it had changed any. I could call my family friend more of a little brother also. Well, my brother has been around the block a time or two also. He has been in RYOC and is currently being housed in FDL co jail for Dodge. He will be moved soon though. Well, just thought I should say a few words about who I am.

Hope:)

Hi,

I just started visiting this month so I am not sure about the outside. As far as the inside, they still have the toys and a large book case area. So it sounds like it is still the same from when you visited before. It is okay visiting so far, I have noticed though it depends on the guard that is there, but I haven;t had any problems or seen too many with other visitors. I have a little girl that goes with me and she is definitely a handful but it has been okay!! Hope that helps!!!

i posted this on a diff thread, but here it is again

everything you guys are posting is really helpful to me, since the oakhill site isnt at all...

an old friend was sent there, probably about 4-5 years ago, he bounced from waupun to dane to greenbay (he called it gladiator school) but we lost touch about 2 years ago. the vine says hes still in oakhill, even though everyone was told he would be released april 20 this year...

i want to send him a letter, but i dont want a certain someone else to get the reply before i do, you ladies know what i mean..

i'm thinking about going to visit, but i cant find info on if i have to be on a list, id hate to drive back to wi, then probably get lost on the way to oakhill and get there to find out i cant see him

 where can i get more info??

Yes, you have to be on a list, and the inmate has to send you the form. Do you have a friend or relative you can trust to keep their mouth shut and have replies sent to their address?

Hi,

I had a question regarding visiting at oakhill. A friend of mine has recently been staffed there and I understand that he has to send me forms so that I can be approved for visitation. But after that is done, can I visit him anytime between the scheduled visiting hours? It says visiting hours are from 8:30 to 4:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. Or does he have to schedule visits for me? Also, how long are visiting hours?

All I know is that he is in the general population.

Any info would be helpful.
Thanks

I was in Oakhill for awhile (about a year and a half) and I could help out with some questions. Also, I worked on the farm (a quarter mile away by Oregon Correctional Center) for almost 6 months.
