He has been at the Gibb Lewis Unit in Woodville.

He has also been in the Galveston Hospital,and in another one in Lubbock. He says that he got the worst treatment of his life in both of them.

As of now, and right at a year and a half, Odie's been housed @ DAWSON STATE JAIL in Dallas. No outside at all! Very seldom do they get rec, because they spend most of their time in lockdown, because of incompetent guard wannabes bring in drugs. There is no doubt that if Odie is rehabiltated, it will be by his own doings & NOTHING to do with the help of TDCJ!! ODIESMOM & PROUD OF IT!!

My man was also in county jail in Corpus. The number he used there, his SID # is not the same number as the TDCJ #. You can get that number from an ombudsman, I think, but you need his birthdate. And also some people are helpful at Garza West and they might give you his #. Good luck.

Thank god, and the RDAP program she will be going to Leavenworth half way house in November of this year. We miss them so much. This is very hard on everyone.

I am trying to find out of anyone has had a family member at Le Blanc. My husband is there and he tells me that their so-called rehab is extremely degrading and they are currently on loss of privileges because they did not "snitch" on each other enough. They have to turn in little white pieces of paper regarding other inmates negative behaviors. Well, they didn't turn in enough snitch sheets and now they have lost all privileges. They also have to sit and face the wall for 4-1/2 hours, not talking, etc, and "think about their wrongdoings." issed:

Where do you live? How long has you loved one been there? My baby has been there since September 28th and still has not even received the prison issued shoes yet. So everytime I go visit he has to burrow shoes from one of his cellies. He won't tell me anything about how it really is in there because he doesn't want me to worry.

Thanks. Jerry does say that the food is bad and that they don't get much to eat. He said that since it is a transfer unit there isn't much funding so everything over prison have they don't like blankets and prison shoes. He is still using his shower shoes because he was never issued the black prison shoes they used to give out because of the lack of funding.
He said that he was told the Garza West will be closing in 2 years due to the funding issue. I know that every weekend it is freezing in there.

My husband was just transferred to Cleveland Correction Facility in Cleveland, Texas. Coming from the Holliday unit in Huntsville, ANYTHING would have been better, but he says it's not a bad place - the guards are decent, it's fairly laid back. He says he feels really blessed to be there after the horrible conditions he was in at Holliday. and for me, the visiting is so much better - we get contact visits every week (woo hoo!!!) and I wait inside a waiting room with chairs for 10-15 minutes, whereas at Holliday you wait outside, standing in line for about an hour and half. It's also closer to me in Houston, so we're really happy about the transfer.

I have been there more than a few times. My son has been in this facility for over a year.

You can see it from the freeway. They don't check your cars! Put you change, drivers license, keys and for me its my glasses inside a plastic pouch of some kind, be it a makeup bag or a big baggie. Change can be nickles and dimes as well as quarters.

You go to the guard shack beside the watch tower, once inside you give them your drivers license, they wand you and when you are finished, you will get your drivers license back and another piece of paper to take with you. When told to you go to the back of the guard shack through another door, there is a gate to your left, when they buzz go through it, another gate to your right, same thing. Walk straight ahead, as the sidewalk splits go to your right towards the visitors building. Go through the first door to the desk, give them your drivers license, and the paper, they will ask you if you know the number to your license plate if not give them the year, color and model. They tell you to have a seat and wait until your son's name is called. They will tell you what number you are when they call his name.

There are two sides of the visitation room, certain numbers on each of them, the numbers are listed. When your son's name is called, go to the appropriate side, take a few steps, look to your right or left as the case may be. Your son will be waiting for you to get a hug, then he walks down the middle and you on the outside of the long sort of table or bar. When you get to your number have a seat. The numbers are listed under the rail of the bar. Have a very nice visit for two hours. When your time is up, go back to the steps, get another hug and then you go back to the desk, get your drivers license which they file by your last name and retrace your steps back to the gates. Once inside the first gate, you will need to put your drivers license up to the camera so the guard in the tower can see it is you. Back through the other gate, guard shack and to your car. Your car is not inside of a big fenced in area, lock your car as far as I know they have not had any trouble with things disappearing from them.

Unless you go around 11:30 AM or so expect it to be very noisy and have to wait for a while. The first weekend will be worse than normal as far as people waiting to see their loved ones. They only take pictures on the first weekend of the month.

Snack machines are not the best by any means, but I suppose it could be worse and they not have any at all. They are located to the right as you stand in front of the desk. If you don't get there early they may or may not have much. I usually get a roll of quarters at the bank or at a car wash before I go to see my son.

If its raining when you visit, unbrellas are allowed, you just have to leave them at the desk where the visitation will occur.

The prison was built in 1939 (I believe), but its not that bad, true there are gangs there but no one has to belong to one, its their choice. The food is not that good either, budget cutbacks my son says. The grounds are nice.

I don't know if your son has been incarcerated anywhere else or not but if he has I think you will find the experience for you a nicer one.

Just before you get to Huntsville, you will see a Pilot Point Truck Stop, exit there, go to the stop sign, under the bridge to your left, the road will curve to your right, to the red light and then to your left once again, its on your left just up from the red light.

Hi Everyone,
I just got back from a wonderful first contact visit to see my son in Beaumont!! He is doing well and actually is so relieved that he did not end up in the USP (because of his unauthorized exit from one of the jails he was in..lol). He likes it there!! He has been there a week so far and because he has been in soo many jails since last May this is like heaven to him. He walks around aimlessly ... he loves the freedom and being able to go outside!! He has already signed up for a continuing education Spanish I class and has already written letters to different universities in the area. He shares a very large cell (used to be a TV room) with 5 other inmates, who belong to one of the mexican mafia groups, but they are cool! My son is not hispanic but he gets along with everyone. The mafia guys were laughing about how usually a white dude does not last long in with them because they want moved right away. My son said it's nice to have any kind of friends in case one needs them. Most of the cells in the medium FCI are 2 man cells but he said they are alot smaller so he might stay in the 6 man one for awhile.
It is a great relief to see the facilities and to know that it is safe. Well, as safe as it could be anyway.

My friend was transferred fron county jail on the 31st. Will all my letters be destroyed or will they let him keep them? In one of his letters he had said that all things are destroyed except the things like whatever was on you when inmate was arrested. That when inmate transfers they go with the whites and tennis shoes only. I want toknow if that as a rumor or is it really true that the letters and pictures are destroyed. He has not written to me yet, but others tell me that it takes a while to get letters from Garza compared to from Houston. my first letter probably didnt reach him until Wednesday14th/Thursday15th...so I guess I wont have letter until next week:(.

When my husband left county all they would let him take with him was his clothes. Not even his wedding ring. They didn't destroy things though. He signed a paper for me to pick up his personal effects. Then they sent me a letter in the mail telling me where. I took the letter and got everything. Once he was at the unit, I called about his ring. They were telling me he should have brought it with him, and I explained he tried but they wouldn't let him. So they said to bring it with me my first visit and let the duty officer look at it to see if it was acceptable. (Can't cost alot, contain a stone, stuff like that) He approved it and gave it to him right then. So you might call the county where he was at and see if they had something similar and if he left any sort of instructions as to his personal effects.
