I'm due to self-surrender early next month for an 18 month sentence, at metro state Atlanta.

The thing that scares me the most is being locked in a small cell 23 hours a day.

How do you cope with that?

I can face up to the other deprivations, humiliation, violence, but i don't think i can cope with seeing those 4 walls for such a long time.

Can anyone tell me how they coped

Does anyone know how long inmates are locked up for in county jails during the day? Is there time out of cells for exercise, showers, etc?

I have been to a few county jails here. you are allowed out for most of the day you usally have 30 min between shift changes, and about a hour after lunch and dinner in which you are in lockdown in your cell . and then a set lockdown at night...if this is somewhere similar where you are going to i hope this helps. i dont quite understand how you came under the impression that you would be locked down 23 hours a day. please explain
