:) Hello everyone, I have a question. If my fiance is granted parole in October, being that he's from Memphis and, he's in Alabama, does anyone know how long it would take them to relase him? Because I know it takes a minute when you're from out of town, but how long? Any ideas?? His release date in April 3rd 2004, and he wants to go to a halfway house if he gets parole because he feels like by the time they release him it will be time for him to get out anyway, but I told him it shouldn't be that long:confused: should it, that's way to long, or could I be wrong???

Interstate compact arrangements vary from place to place. One of our Forum Leaders, E1950's, husband was paroled in late March to Georgia, but was not released until August 1st. Another friend of mine and my man's was also paroled to Georgia but was released within less than 2 months. Our former moderator Danielle's husband was paroled to Mississippi and came home within 2-3 months (can't remember exactly when). It just kind of varies from place to place and inmate to inmate, from what I've seen...

Is it true that they passed a law in Alabama that if your crime isn't violent they must give you ...parole because the prisons are over crowded?

I don't think there is a "must do" to anything with the parole board. But, it is likely that he could get an early parole for a non-violent case. They have been doing some early releases.

Good answer Kay!! It is humorous to me to think that the parole board would "have to" do anything, lol. In fact, I assume they'd be like a 2 year old at that point and once told they "have to" do something, would do the opposite. :o
I'd settle for consistency with the Board. And for a simple act like doing things on time and with fairness.
