Yes what he did was wrong and he knows that. BUT you did NOT get stuck paying their cable bill, their medical bills, and the dental bills??? HELLO there is NONE! Laundry is done through FREE inmate labor. Calling cards? YEA RIGHT! I pay my taxes just like YOU so I am paying double than you are! Granted there are alot of people in prison that deserve to be there for the rest of their lives but there are also people in there that made a one time mistake. My husband fought for OUR country as a United States Marine but due to the pressure and no help from the gov. he turned to drugs. A ONE TIME MISTAKE that got him 15 years in our lovely prison that you think it is. Yes we get ONE 4 hour visit a week with our kids and we get ONE 15 minute phone call a week. The visits that you think are so wonderful just shows that you have NEVER been to one! Put yourself in our shoes before you open your mouth! What is your brother or sister or aunt or uncle or even your mom or dad went to prison...would you go visit? The most important question is....should you have to pay for their mistake and be looked upon like you are the worlds worst person?!?! As for the 100.00 check they get, I agree..they shouldnt get that and if I hadnt had to pay all this money out for the phone calls they could keep their 100.00 check but when my husband comes home I will take the check STRAIGHT to the bank, ill think about you when I CASH IT! Much love... and still doing time with my husband.....

When my husband first went in, i had to pay $21 for a 15 min phone call. Plus, since he can only call collect, i have to have a "land line" if he weren't there, i could save the monthly service for my phone, since i use my cell for all calls except our once-a-week-cuz-we-can't-afford-it-more call!

I wish the article would have made it clear that inmates can ONLY call collect. As far as that simpleton's reply to your post.. i'm just so sick of being treated like I committed a crime because i love someone in prison - I'm so grateful for my support group here!

I'd give them $100 if they'd let him come home.

CrisnClay, I read about that also on the Katv site. All those posts made me mad too. I posted right after you did. Some people are so simple minded and don't realize what we go through also. What really got me was the post about writing each other. How would they feel if all they ever got was a letter? As I said in my post on the Katv site, it is NOT the same as hearing your loved one SAY that they love you.

I seen your post Kool_aid.. I was glad to see someone else posted something. It helps when we stand up for eachother AND our loved ones. Some people in this world can be so cruel! I am really thankful that I found this website. I have no idea how I have done so much time with my husband without this site. Even when he comes home WE will continue to post and read from this site. I hope hes home soon. I talked to the a board member today and he told me that Clayton got 7 out of 7 votes for the review. Leroy Brownlee recc. the review as well!!! May be soon...

I am also thankful that I found this website. It has been a huge help. I'm with you.....I can't believe that the ADC gets 3.5 million a year for phone calls. And then they want us to pay for medical costs....:blah:

My man is in Grimes. He was transferred from Diagnostic about a month ago. He will be back here for court in Oct. But at least while he is here, I will FINALLY get to visit him. I haven't seen him since July. :( So, I'm definately happy to be able to see him. Even if it is just a 15 minute visit and seeing him through a glass window. I miss my baby.

Yes, at Grimes it is a 4 hour visit. But he has to come home, here, for court. Thats when I will be able to see him and only for a 15 minute visit. I have gotten to visit him once since he has been gone. And that was in July. And it was through a video monitor. That really was no fun at all!!!! But I can't wait to see him. If I do get approved to go and see him before he comes home for court, then I am going. Even if he will be here in a few weeks. I miss him so much.
