Avenal is equal distance from L.A. as it is from San Francisco. There's an airport in Fresno but that only services small commuter flights I think. If you fly in you'll have to rent a car and drive to Avenal. It's about 5 miles off Interstate 5. You'll see the signs in both directions.

Actually you will find the cheapest flights are into LA then renting a car and driving north to Avenal it takes about 2 hours from LAX to get there.
