My neices Father is in the Roach Unit in Childess Texas, he has been there since my sister was 4 months pregnant. My neice Kendra Faith and my son (born 2 dayd apart) just had their 3rd birthday. My sister has moved on with her life she has a new boyfirend and a new baby, and I have Kendra.... She asked me if Dustin ( my sisters new boyfriend) was her dad, and I finally told her about him, I was never hiding it I just thought she was too young, I did however tell her he was working far away helping people and he would be back to be with her as soon as he had helped everyone. I hope I made the right choice. I know he was given 10 yrs and he has served like I said almost 4 years, is there anyway I can find out when to expect him or when he has a parole meeting. and also how can I be put on the visiters list. I would like to take Kendra to see her father. I never contacted him before because the whole situation surrounding his incarseration was bad and hard on everyone, my sister had to testify against him or face jail time and he was 18 and got mixed up with the wrong people, he is a good man, he should have never been convicted.

First let me say welcome to PTO. Before you take your niece to visit, what does your sister think about her going? I know it's hard talking to young kids about this, but the best thing to do is just give her enough answer to satisfy her question and as she gets older, give her more info. As she grows up, it will be easier for her to digest.
