If your candles have burned down too far to look good, save the stubs! There are so many alternative uses for them around the home.

Stubs are the perfect tool for freeing up sticky drawers. Just rub the wax along the moving parts of the drawer and watch it slide easily into place. This same tip will work on stubborn windows.

Stubs are also the perfect fire starters in the fireplace or campsite. Light the candle and hold it in place long enough to light your kindling and not burn your fingers.

Rub a white candle stub over the label of a package before you ship it to seal in the ink and protect the address.

If you have squeaky doors, carefully remove one hinge pin at a time and rub the stub of a candle all over it, slip it back in place and the squeak will be gone.

If you have a candle that won't stand up in a holder, coat the inside with some petroleum jelly. Use a candle stub to drip some wax into the bottom of the holder and press the new candle into place. As the wax cools it will hold the candle.

In the workshop you can use the stubs to coat screws and saw blades so they will easily move through wood.

Re: candle stubs as fire starters: Melt them down in a coffee can on the stove. Then add some dryer lint and pour into cardboard egg cartons. When cool and solid, cut the "cups" apart, and use them to start your fire. It REALLY works, I've started my fire with totally wet wood using these. 2 will usually do the trick!

if you have alot and wanna make a big candle you can toss a bunch into a Oj can.. the condensed kind or a half a milk jug the cardboard kind..... then toss some melted paraffin you buy in a store over it and you got a multi colored scented candle.

Also a good idea if they're smelly candles and stubs of votives work really well thro some a few in your drawers, closets (the rements of 3 wicks work great in closets), under the bathroom sink, etc. These work really well as an inexpensive air freshner. Mine have last up to 1 year, efore the smell deteriorated from the stubs.

who uses a smelly tealight in her ashtray ( she doesnt use it for smoking) and under the front seat of her car as air freshners.... she sells candlelight products and they are very smelly!!

they lose thier scent more quickly cause i am a smoker but all you have to do is poull'em out, scratch the surface with your keys and they smell right back up again!
