$2-$3Sticky door (from a news article)

Got a door that just doesn't want to close properly? The problem could be as simple as tightening the hinges, or you may need to shave off some wood to make it fit.

Tools Needed: Screwdriver, wood plane
Fix Time: 45 Minutes :p

• First, try adjusting the strike plate on your door jamb. ''Ninety percent of the time, if a door doesn't latch, you need to adjust the strike plate,'' Manfredini said. Unscrew the wood screws on the plate and try moving it up or down slightly.

• If the door is hanging a little crooked in the jamb, tighten up the screws in the hinges to get it to swing properly.

• If there's still a sticking point, mark the spot with blue painter's tape and remove the door from its hinges. Use the wood plane to shave wood from the spot.

Shave off a little bit at a time and test the result.
