Grape Jelly!! It's not just for PB&J anymore!
I become a fan of grape jelly many years ago when I was making homemade sweet and sour sauce and didn't have any sweet in the cupboards. I was out of sugar, brown sugar and frantic for something sweet... the guests were getting hungry and all I had as grape jelly. It was fantastic!!!!
JJT's Sweet and Sour Sauce:
Juice from one can pineapple chunks.
Vinegar to taste, start w/ just a teaspoon (balsamic is best, apple cider okay, white vinegar is too harsh)
Grape Jelly to taste, equal amounts to the vinegar
salt, pepper
Mix it all together, stirring constantly. It should become a clear, thick sauce after about 5 minutes over medium heat.
If you really want to impress people, add a few of the pineapple chunks to the sauce as well as thinnly sliced carrots. Oh, green onions are good in the sauce too.
Serve over rice and/or chicken
