I finally broke down and hired the cleaners after the fiasco with my sick cat a couple months ago. It was too much of a job for me to take on.

But when they left, my house sort of smelt like wet cat.

I'm using some carpet fresh deordorizer today.

Any other suggestions? Or suggestions to get the red/pink stains from the cat food out of the carpet. They did a pretty good job, but I still have a couple trouble spots. The joys of regurgitated Kit and Kaboodle. :D :D :blah:

Some ideas for your troubled spots:

I have not tried this at home, but read about it somewhere, I'm dying to know if it actually works, LOL....sounds neat enough!! Fix it with a crayon!! ;) First look through the crayon box for just the right shade to blend with your carpet, then get down and actually color over the spot. Put a piece of wax paper over it, and iron on low head. Repeat as needed.

For fruit stains (which maybe your kitty ate some fruit and it could constitute for this method ;) ):

Wet the stain w/ water, and gently scrup in salt. Let sit for a few minutes, then brush it out and vaccuum...repeat if necessary.

One more way...this is for more recent stains tho, it may help:

Mix 1/2 cup each of white vinegar and warm water. Add one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and stir. Dab solution into the stain, and blot with a clean towel. Repeat process until all the stain color is transferred to the towel. When you are finished, cover the area with a clean white towel to dry.

GOOD LUCK!

I'll try them when I have some x-tra time this weekend, thanks for the info.

did the carpet cleaners use special enzyme cleaners? It may be that the cleaning brought the stains to the surface in some areas but didn't completely remove them. You could spray with nature's miracle and then put some old towels down and step on them to soak it up. I get nature's miracle by the gallon for my 4 pets.

To color back the carpeting try using a fabric marker that closely matches the color of your carpet. I accidenly dribbled bleach on my new carpet a few years ago and this worked great!
