When my son was sentenced the judge told him that he had to go through 3 classes before he was ever paroled. Victims impact, some alcohol class and he had to get his GED. He already did the victims impact with help from the counsler. That was months ago! He has been ready to do another class since the last one ended. It helps keep his mind busy. They haven't had any classes since then. Now granted he needs special help because of his brain injury, but don't you think that these classes should be on going? I don't understand how the inmates are supposed to complete their requirements if they aren't offered to them! The GED class is going to take my son along time to complete as it is considering the the parts of his brain that have been affected. Seems to be that they are supposed to be doing rehabilitation with these inmates, but instead they are allowing them to rot!

I'm so sorry to hear your frustrations. I agree with you totally... the classes should DEFINITELY be offered periodically if they are a requirement for parole!!!

I hope you can get in contact with someone that can get you information on how he can take the courses. Have you spoken to his counselor at the prison? Maybe try calling the DOC also.
