Hi.

I am new here. My little brother is in jail for bank robbery. He has been in the county jail for 3 weeks and I don't have any clue as to how much time he will get.

He spent his 21st birthday in jail on Monday. He was attacked two days ago by a group of inmates. He was asleep when they did it so he doesn't know who did it. He had heard through the rumor mill that someone wanted him dead. He is intensive care with a ruptured spleen, internal bleeding and bruised kidneys. For some reason, they haven't operated yet, they told him that it should repair itself, which I haven't heard of before. They have let us see us once and the hospital won't give us any information due to HIPA. We can't even talk to the doctor! It took me 1/2 hour last night just to find out if his condition has changed. We are hoping that when he goes back to the jail that he can be in some sort of protective custody or they may end up killing him this time. Unfortunately, his bail is high so we can't afford to get him out and can't afford to get him a lawyer either.

Nedless to say, all of this has been extremely hard on everyone, especially my mom, who has poor health. She is diabetic, and is on kidney dialysys.

I came across this website the other day and it has been somewhat of a comfort to know that other peopel are going through the same thing. It is still so hard.

jess i am so sorry to hear about your brother, i think that was the worse having to worry about mine! , u know i kinda think that it what saved my brother. u see he has always been high risk so they have always kept him confined to one room....23 hours a day. thats enough to drive someone madd! but i think any other way and he wouldv'e been in fights, or got hurt and he is not a very big person. it was less worrying for us! i dont' know why these people would want to hurt your brother but just pray for him, write to him. i'm sure he is scared and he really needs u right now! as far as his injuries they will heal if the dr says that they will, they usually don't lie. i will keep you, your brother and the rest of your family in my prayers.

Thank you so much for all the support. They finally did operate, they removed his spleen and appendix. He was in the hospital for 1 1/2 weeks. He is back in the county jail.

He went to court this morning, they told him if it went to trial, they would go for life in prison. The plea bargain is 8-12 years. He is kinda depressed about it, my mom didn't sound too good either when she told me. It could have been alot worse. I am trying to look at it in a more positive way, he could have gotten more time. Maybe if he is good he can get out alot sooner. How does that work? Is it possible to get out on good behavior? Is there any information I should try to find out before? I have no clue how any of this works.

I hope he can get an education while he is in there and turn his life around.

I'm not sure about the good behavior thing...cause if thats help I will be telling my brother also to stay out of trouble so he can come home and be with his lil boy Jacob!!!!

Im so sorry to hear what has happened. You might want to try talking to the jail or someone in charge there, to see if he can be sent to another facility... Man if he is in danger like that, they have to be able to do something. I remember when my ex was in county and he got into three fights, after the third they had to move him. I don't see why in your situation it would be any different. Exspecially to the extent in which these people have hurt him (your brother) .. wow honey, im sooooo very sorry. My ex was shot nine times and he was in custudy in the hospital and they would not even let the mother go and see him, so i know how you are feeling. Just pray and give it to god, he will help your brother out of this situation ok. :) I promise..... Just have faith!!!!
