My friend is currently in OCI and so far he is doing great getting all the help he needs and learning how to handle things. I helped him a lot by calling and talking to different people(i was only able to do that with my employment though)

I would like to know ANYTHING you can tell me about OCI, including info re visits,
clothing, food, routine, etc anything. I am a first timer (and last) and am quite apprehensive.

Ok....I can tell you what i know so far.....they have to wear those ugly orange shirts, with track pants, the meals are good(from what he tells me), they have group sessions to talk about different areas. They have NA, AA, Native sons, etc...they do church services on Sunday. I can't remember the visiting hours off hand right now, but i will get them for you. I haven't had a chance to go see my man yet. Even though it is jail, he says that he is doing so well and doing good. In order to have visitors you have to fill out a form for them and hand it in. When do you go in? Are you going directly in to OCI?? The classes you take are during the day, the phones have no time limit on them(so be careful when talking on them, it could cost the other side a small fortune). I believe you can use them up until 11 pm. From what my man tells me there are no cells, they are a barrack type of deal. There is a weight room that you can work out in. The main focus there is to get the help that you need and they provide it with a sort of laxed setting. I will find more information for you

OCI is an amazing place.Two friends of mine were in there and both have come out of there and not gone back to jail/prison again.They have open visits you sit on couch together.Their are family socials and the staff are nice.The food is good and it's a lot from what my friends said.You will have to deal with some heavy stuf though thier are people there in treatment for abuse of wife/kids and sex treatment programs.Some guys can't hack it and if you get into a fight your in the hole and in most cases your out of there.But you know what if you need and want help it's great place to be.Get into Linda Hobbs Friday afternoon programs she is amazing i have done counselling with her out here.Good liuck!!!

can you actually request to be sent to that prison. I'm being sentenced wednesday for sexual interference because i had sex with a girl who was under age even though i was lead to believe she was older. I'm looking at a maximum of 6 months from what i understand. Just because of the fact i plea bargained to get the lesser sentence. I ws also wondering what i can expect once i go to prison i've never been before and honestly i am scared to death. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Canada sound much better than the USA. Is this my imagination (I am relatively new here) or is it obviously true? Is it just this particular prison? Comments anybody---I would like to know.

No its not just your imagination. I thank god every day my old man is doing his sentecnce in canada. This particular jail is a provinical ( county) bucket. Federal is a hole nother story.

My boyfriend was in oci last year and he enjoyed it there the guards were not all that bad they have opened visits and they have different activites for christmas they out on a play it was a nice place to be.

yes i was in your shoes and was scared of what to expect from the courts the jails etc. So far all has not been to bad.

The worst part of going to jail is the night at the police station then sitting around in a small cell all day till your court time.

Hello my boyfriend is being shipped to OCI tomorrow and i would like to know when the visiting hours are and how many visits are aloud a week and any information along those lines....i have only heard good things about the jail and look forward to the open visits:) any information about this would be greatly appreciated. I was also wondering about the phone calls i read on here that they are not limited to a specific amount of time but someone said that they can cost a small fortune, i thought it was a dollar to accept a collect call and those were the only charges that applyed. Information on that would be great too :)
