I see people post asking about Lockdowns or saying one of the Prisons or yards are on Lockdown how do you know? Can you call the Prison and they tell you if so who or what dept do you ask for?

Hi-
I call the CDC Visitor Info. Line, 800-374-8474 (follow the menu to get to the prison you want), the recording will say if the visiting schedule is a 'normal program' of if they are on lock-down. The recording is supposed to be updated every week, or when there is a change. That's how I do it, I'm sure others will be along to post if there is a different/better way to find out.

That 800# is not always updated in a timely fashion. I call my husband's counselor or the warden's office. But if it is on the weekend when we need to check then the only source we have is to resort to is the 800#.

That's a good question...I've been wondering the same thing... :( The number isn't good in Canada...guess I'll try to call the Warden's office...I wish they posted those kinds of things online...guess that would be too easy ;)

The number (800-374-8474) has'nt been updated in over 2 years for "daily" updates for centinela Prison. wow. I know the prison can be called on Fridays for updates on weekend visiting. But no daily updates.

That number is only updated after 2 pm on Fridays for weekend visiting.

If I need to know, I just call the prison and ask the person who answers the phone. If he/she can't tell me, they usually transfer me to my son's yard and they will tell me.

Bet my son's yard is on lockdown tonight and tomorrow. He was talking to me on the phone tonight when the alarm went off and they had to hit the deck, so there he was flat on the floor on his stomach still talking to me. I asked if he was supposed to hang up and he said, well, they didn't say anything about hanging up the phone, they only make us lay down on our stomachs when the alarm goes off and I'm down here with about 60 other guys right now.
We finished our conversation, but I won't be suprised if it's the last one for a few days....lockdowns suck bigtime.
