Well a new phase has begun in Harvey and my journey after his incarceration. At 8am this morning I picked him up from Morgantown. The pickup was uneventful although he told me that they almost didn't let him up because the belt I sent him didn't fit. One of the guards in R&D didn't want to give him a prison belt to wear but one of the other ladies felt that the government could spare one web belt so they let him up. I had food in the car for him that I knew he would enjoy and off we went through some really bad weather (we are getting the remnents of frances) so driving those mountains was horendous. I dropped him off at the VOA around 12:15 this afternoon and such we begin phase 2 and can begin resuming our lives together. It was so good to have him near me and not be watched by a guard for a few hours. It was also great to see him in some other color than prison kaki.

Best of luck to everyone.
Ellen

It's so comforting to read that one by one, we are all "coming home". By the way, what is "VOA" ?

VOA is the Volunteers of America- the place that runs the halfway house where Harvey is at in Baltimore.

Thanks for the explanation! Here the half-way house is run by a Catholic Church! Again, bravo!! and baske in each moment of freedom!

I loved reading this- I'll be doing the same thing on Thursday, but we only get an hour because the HWH is so close:o

Fantastic! Furloughs are great. I have about 3 more years before we can get them!

Diane,
Its definitely been a challenge. We found out that he will have a new probation officer since the other one got reassigned to a different area. He has not gotten approval to have the vehicle yet although we have followed all the necessary steps and he is trying to find a job. But we are taking one day at a time and hoping for the best. At least he and I are in the same state. Since he was placed at the VOA he will have to live with his son during his home confinement since they consider my house to far for them to monitor him at. *sigh*

Congrats! I know that you have gotta be happy even though he has to stay at his sons during his 'Home Confinement'. How long is home confinement?

We all know how hard it is to complete paperwork... :D I am really sorry to hear that! Also about your house being to far for them to monitor him. What would happen if he didn't have a son that lived closer? Would he be forced to find some source of housing close enough so they could still hit the Dunkin Donuts or clubs along the way? Wish things could be going better for you! Just when we think times are easing up...the test comes back along. You both are in my thoughts...and I hope this passes quickly for you!
