My name is Jessi and my husband was recently sentenced to 3 DAYS in prison, three months in a halfway house and five months house arrest. I can't seem to find any info on halfway house confinement without a lenthy prison sentence. Does anyone know how it works? My husband has a very successfull business with many employees, we own a nice home, and he has no drug problems, we don't even drink alchohol. The judge just seemed to want to punish him, even though he was at a level 8 for sentencing guidelines (straight probation?). Also, I read somewhere that one can serve half of his community confinement under house arrest, that it's up to the BOP. Is that true? Any info would be helpfull, our attorney keeps telling us that it's like living in a dorm.

Hi there,
I'm currently in a halfway/restitution house. I get to go out and work and then return to sleep there. I ahve been in 5 months and can now go home on the weekends for the remainder of the 4 months that are left on my sentence.

It is like a dorm. I share a room with two other guys. I can go out every day for work, once to the store of needed, have weekend visits and go home on other weekends. It's nothing like prison. I used to be in mangement with a company for 17 years. It's a great place for someone like me and your husband. You can email if you want more info. :)

Do you know if they can leave for a wedding? My mom is scheduled to go to a halfway house from a camp a few months before her release date and I am getting married during the time she would be at a half way house.. but the wedding would not be in the same area as her halfway house, same state, but not same city.. do you know if you have to be there a certain amt. of time to earn the weekend passes? or maybe they would grant an exception if her daughter was getting married for the 1st time? anything you know would be helpful..

If you go to the search area and type in home confinement you should come up with some good information. I remember starting a thread myself under either house arrest or home confinement. From what I have heard you can work up to 48 hours a week and go to church on Sundays. It's not what you would think as far as just having to stay home. Good luck finding out more info.

You will get 6 hours of "free time" per week. You get 3 hours for church. Your free time can only be taken in 3 hour increments unless you get special permission.

You are not eligible for weekend passes until you have a full time job, get paid and pay your 25% subsistence at least once. Even then, the halfway house will call to make sure that you are at home.

You are not eligible for home confinement until you reach your 10% date.

I am interested in this halway house thing... How does it all work if you are an ex-longer term inmate. By the time my man comes out, he wouldve done a 12.5 yr sentence... does it all work the same for him?

Yes it does work the same for him.
