I RECENTLY SENT PRINTED PAGES OF MY SONS E-MAILS TO HIM, AND HE HAS BEEN IN RECEPTION IN BOTH WENDE AND ELMIRA. HE IS 23 YEARS OLD, HE HAS A LOT OF FRIENDS THAT ARE TO LAZY TO WRITE LETTERS, SO I HAVE THEM CONTINUE TO E-MAIL HIM. I PRINT THEM OUT, THEN SEND THEM ALONG WITH MY LETTERS, IT IS A GOOD WAY FOR HIM TO HEAR THEIR NEWS. I WAS TOLD BY MY SON THAT THERE WAS A TIME WHEN I SENT 6 IN ONE ENVELOPE AND THAT THE 6th PAGE WAS DESTROYED BECAUSE YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED 5 PAGES OF ANY INFORMATION FROM THE INTERNET PER ENVELOPE. TOO BAD I CAN'T SEND ALL THE INSTANT MESSAGES, THEIR MAILROOM WOULD BE SWAMPED AND I WOULD HAVE TO BUY STOCK IN THE POSTAL SERVICE. I ALSO SENT THE PRINTABLE VERSION OF THREADS ON WORK RELEASE AND SHOCK CAMP, ONE PRINT CAME OUT 6 PAGES AND WAS ALLOWED IN. HE ALSO LIKES ME TO SEND FOOTBALL STATS AND FANTASY FOOTBALL PAGES FROM THE INTERNET. I FINALLY CALLED BOTH FACILITIES AND THEY SAID THAT THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF 5 INTERNET PAGES PER ENVELOPE. IF YOU PLAN ON SENDING INFO FROM THE INTERNET, CALL THE FACILITY AND 1st MAKE SURE THAT IT IS ALLOWED, AND THEN THE AMOUNT THAT IS ALLOWED. I ALSO SENT THE INFO ON HIS SELF FROM THE NYSDOCs PAGE, I THOUGHT HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE INFO THAT IS OUT THERE. I ALSO KNOW THAT THE INFO FROM NYSDOCs CONCERNING INMATES IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE PRISON EXCEPT BY THE PERSON TO WHOM IT PERTAINS. IF YOUR LOVED ONE WANTS INFO ON SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS IN THE SYSTEM WRITE THAT INFO ON A PERSONAL LETTER. I HOPE THIS INFO IS HELPFUL TO SOMEONE.

I don't know how familiar you are with your computer but if you copy and paste the internet info into Word and do a little formatting(clean up the spacing and remove any ads) you can get alot more info on your 5 pages. I ran into this problem when I was trying to send a friend of mine a story, I sent it all in a manilla envelope and it was returned, so I put 5 pages per envelope and mailed him 14 envelopes!! I don't see how this speeds up the process of checking the mail, just costs us more money. But I always follow the rules, so if they want a ton of envelopes, I send them!!:)

I also cut/paste a lot of stuff from the internet right into the body of the letters that I am writing especially if its something that isn't several pages long. It works without fail.

I also cut and paste some things, but the things that I want separate from my personal letters, that he can keep to reference later I print separately, because he may need them later, and because I send mail everyday at 5 or more pages long, I dont want him to have to go through all of the personal mail to find what he is looking for, IE: the laws on Work Release and Shock Camp. When he is done with them he can pass them on someone else in need of the same info, getting into the law library to get that same info could take some time, or getting a visit from a lawyer when an inmate is far from home can be quite expensive, due to hourly rates. And if an inmate has a public defender, you can almost bet non-existent, And you can forget about getting a call from a lawyer while your loved one is in there. I do jot some notes on the pages that I print though, but nothing personal, in case he passes them along. As far as the sporting pages, you have to be careful as to what you send because inmates are not allowed to be in possession of anything that can be construed as a gambling device. These things I know from personal experience.

thanks for posting, when in doubt, call the facility and ask, they all have their rules about pictures and reading materials to send etc etc...
But Just from my experience, I copy and paste MANY things from the internet and he has had no problem getting any of it and I have sent MANY pages and it was not a problem. I can only mail 10 pictures at a time and NOT polaroids.
If he is not allowed to get it, they will mail it right back to you. Anything you send as far as reading material gets checked before they can read it.
