This isn't related to dieting, but it is to health, so here goes!

Does anyone here have an irregular cycle? I only get my period once every 3 months or so..

I have been checked for everything, blood tests, ultrasounds, etc.. nothing seems to be wrong, and i was given the option to regulate it with birth control, so i did. Unfortunately, the pack the doctor gave me had me in the emergency room during my 7 days off.

Now I'm off those pills, and back to irregular me..

Haha...we're complete opposites. I'm very irregular...but the two times I've gone off birth control I've had my period for 3+ months straight. NO BREAKS. After considering buying stock in Tampax, the doctor finally figured out what the heck is wrong with me.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

So now I'm nearly infertile and will be on the pill 'til the cows come home :)

I'm just like mlg. My periods have been irregular since I started having them. One time...I had one for 45 days straight...(heavy)...and was off for 6 days...and started again and it lasted 30 days. :( My doctor couldn't figure out what was wrong either. He done blood test, ultrasounds...everything...but, nothing showed up. And just last week...he figured out it was PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). I'm not on the pill though...cause for some reason...that makes me MORE irregular so...he is just tryin' to get me "fixed" so I won't be infertile forever. As of today...I haven't had a period in 4 months though. :(
I hope you can find out what's wrong (if anything).

austinsgrl: Have they looked into polycystic ovary syndrome? Each time I had this ordeal they gave me this 10 day medication that I have NO clue what it was...and after those 10 days I had one regular period then I had to start on the pill. I'm not a doctor but I would almost guarantee that's what it is. My gynecologist made that determination within seconds of telling her my symptoms. It's so common.

I am going through that issue right now!! I am on birth control and have been a number of years so my periods are always very regularly but now I haven't had one at all for 2 months.Personally it concerns me a little and I'd like to know why as it has never happened in the 17 years or so since I started having them but some people say it is normal to skip some? I made an appt with my Doc to discuss it with her.

I'm very irregular, but heavy as all get out when I'm on. I was a die hard Depo girl till the last 6 months. Since going off it I have had a 4 month period. He was talking about that new pill, Seasonale, which only lets you have 4 periods a year.

Wow... glad to see that i'm not the only one suffering.. i had a month long period once.. it drove me NUTSSSSS!! I was also very weak..

My doctor seems like she doesn't care, so i am getting a new one. I was put on the pill, and during my 7 days off i got the worse cramps of my life (it got to its worst point at work, where i was walking around balling, barfing in a plastic bag in the back room while i had customers waiting for me, and it was so heavy it was pretty much running down my legs.. litteraly) so i went to the emergency, and after about 6 hours or more i felt better.

It was so heavy for the rest of the period that i ruined a lot of clothing, and was VERY uncomfortable. I went to my doctor and told her about it, and she suggested that i go on Naperoxin, which i was to start 4 days before scheduled period, and it would help with cramps and reduce amount of blood.

It was right then and there that i said "you know what, I'm not going to take a pill to regulate the pill that is suppose to be regulating my period.. forget it!!" and went off them..

I am currently looking for a new doctor, and i think i may suggest this disorder that has been mentioned here.. polycystic ovary syndrome.. because i need answers, and im not a pill popper. Heck when i went in to start the birth control, my doctor actually asked me if i had heard of any brands that i would like to try.. I was like "you're the doctor, as if i'm here to self-subscribe!"..

Anyways.. thank-you for all the information!! I greatly appreciate it!!

It's called Provera. The reason I know that is I have had two scripts written in the past two months.

I also have been having a huge problem. Between April and July 10th no period. Then from July 16 - mid August had one huge continuous period. Said I had a cyst on the right ovary. They waited.

Went a week ago friday had another ultra sound.. Found out on Wed that that is now gone and I have a 4 inch cyst on the left one.

Oh the joys of being a woman :D

I also have irregular periods, yeahhhhhh LOL. I take provera 10 days out of the month, then have a period every month. It makes me regular. But I also was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome). It took 3 doctors and a specialist to figure it out LOL. Anyhow, they have a rx that also helps you treat pcos plus ovulate, called metformin 500mg/ can take up to 4 pills a day(also prescribed for diebetics). I want to be good to go when my baby comes home LOL. u can take fertility pills, ie. clomid, but it's really expensive, plus most insurances will not pay for them. Maybe just ask your doctor about it (metformin) But, it will atleast help u ovulate and taken with provera, u will have regular periods. I hope I helped some........:)

I have my usual cycle every month which lasts about 5-7 days, then I have loads of little heavy ones that last 1-3 days.So in a month I would say im on a period 20 days out of 30.I havnt been right since I lost weight,I also think taking all those laxatives messed my insides up.I can be walking along the street thinking ive wet myself & when I get home I find a large blood clot...I know I should go & get it checked but I always put it off.So far today im having a period free day:yay:
