O.K. A friend of mine took some digitals and I have them on CD rom. I can't seem to open them, but my son was able to load them into PPT, but they are not sized, etc. What I really want to do is print them as 5X7 photos so I can take them to my hubby tomorrow. Is there any free on line software I can get to help me with this process? I bought the glossy paper and thought if I could just print them and then cut them down to size?? I'm really lost here in the digital picture kingdom. Can anyone help me??
Thanks & love,
freedom
What type of file are the pictures on the cd rom? ** put your mouse on one of them and just look at the last three letters of the name....should say something like picturename._ _ _ }
Jpeg's?
You can't open a jpeg?
What program are you using to try and open it, word perfect? :D
hehe, just a little joke.
I don't know if you have irfanview installed on your machine? If not, you might want to try it...it opens everything except a box of kraft dinner. Click on the first page of that 'computer odds and ends' thread, I listed irfanview in one of the first posts, it might help you out. There's probably a ton of shareware programs for digital photography...can't say I've used any, but I probably have some links if you wanna go thru them and see if there's anything might help....just might be a bit of installing/un-installing till you find something you like for the right price...free.
Ok, did a little digging and webattack didn't let me down. Ton of stuff for you to look thru here...
Digital Camera Tools Here (http://www.webattack.com/freeware/gmm/fwdigi.shtml)...take a look at the 2nd one down, I think it's called Oscar Meyer's something other other jpeg and weeney maker. It may help you out, says it frames portraits and stuff like that to get ready for picture doing.
I've never used any of those programs, so I can't give you any more helpful--or not so helpful--hints. If you give irfanview a try, I can help you figure things out with that. It's easy to re-size pics with keyboard shortcuts in that, just ask Phil in Paris...he's not much brighter than a french fry and he did magnificently with it!! :D:D sorry phil

Hey toe..Thank you!! I guess I mis-lead you a little. I had no problem opening them. It was my kids last week that were having trouble and since they are so much more puter literate than me, I thought I would have the same problems. Nope!! Opened right up and downloaded to my Pictures folder. Found a free 30 day trial of adobe photo shop and I was in business. Need to learn how to play with it more, but at least was able to crop and print my pictures for tomorrow's visit. Thanks again and I also downloaded one of the programs from the site you gave me. I will bookmark that one for sure. Thanks again...you're a doll!!
