i could not find the help section thingy for toe, so, i hope i have this in the right place,

toe, i need a good fire wall, one that is free. :) and i also need a good pop up ad stopper thingy,lol sorry, i am not sure that those are called, i tried to use zone alarm and it did not work with my norton. thanks for any help you can give me

I haven't gotten around to a firewall yet, but need too!! I am running Nortons 2002, with 2003 to be loaded.

I don't use pop up stoppers-- I either turn my java script off when I'm surfing sites that I know have popups, or I use Mozilla--it's a Netscape based browser that doesn't allow popups. So you have three options...


Talk to B-Ray to see what he's using as a pop up stopper...he'll know what's good/bad about it and can help ya set it up if there's a problem.

Firewalls? Tsk Tsk!! If you're running ICQ--also known among the script kiddy hackworld as the biggest OPEN DOOR to your computer-- you must run one!!!! If you don't like ZoneAlarm, or it doesn't work with whatever virus product you're using, you can hop on over to this page (http://www.webattack.com/freeware/security/fwfirewall.shtml) and take a look at some others. There's a few listed on that page, the one's I've heard good things about are Sygate and Outpost. There's another good one if you're a little more experienced...it's called Tiny Personal Firewall, don't have the link but you can search for it at www.downloads.com. Believe me, it's a little easier spending a couple hours learning how to set up your firewall then it is spending a week tracking down some zit faced 13yr olds trojan....or reformatting....or changing your credit card numbers....or having your mail read, passwords changed etc etc etc.

myself i run ZoneAlarm and think that it is Great! no problems with it and the 'generic/ one is free. easy to install and understand -= even my ex got it thru his thick skull how to work it! for my thinking, this is the one to go with.

toe, i downloaded this thingy and some box came up and said, damn, i cant rember what all it said, something about it where i need to put this, and then it has a bunch of options, that never happened before. how come it is now?

If you want to make a 'thingy' to click lulu, you can go to the reply page...you know the same reply to page you click on when you want to post a picture? I'll include a picture of some of it below this. Ok, when you want to insert a link, see the button that says http://.....just click that and a little box pops up.... then you can type in "Click here" or "Pop me one time" or whatever you want....then you click the ok button on the box, then you insert the address you want and click ok again. Presto, you have a 'thingy' to click.
