 there we go again :(

MONTGOMERY, Ala. The Alabama Supreme Court has set a September 30th
execution date for an inmate convicted in Henry County of killing his boss
and stealing his money to buy crack cocaine.

According to assistant state Attorney General Clay Crenshaw,
33-year-old David Kevin Hocker waived his right to further appeals of his
conviction of the 1998 murder.

A jury found Hocker guilty in the March 1998 stabbing death and robbery
of his boss, Jerry Wayne Robinson of Houston County. Hocker dumped
Robinson's body in neighboring Henry County and then used his bank card to
get cash to purchase 400-dollars worth of crack cocaine.

Hocker then traveled to Mobile, used the crack cocaine and turned
himself in to the Mobile County Sheriff's Department.

Hocker filed one appeal in his case, which the Alabama Court of
Criminal Appeals rejected in April 2002.

He has dropped his appeals and has volunteered for his execution and of course the State is more then happy to give him his wish.

I realize he has dropped his appeals and the state is more than happy to oblige him with his execution, however, I dont comprehend why he has dropped his appeals. I mean isn't there always hope? Can't there always be hope that something could or would turn around in his favor?
Just wondering.

babygirl .......I don't know why he has dropped his appeals. I have never understood why anyone would allow the State to murder them.

You are right there is always hope. But I think sometimes the whole thing just gets to be to much for them.
I know a couple of my penpals have said they are sick of every thing they are put through and have felt like just getting it over with. (They won't) but I know at times they have felt like just giving up.

Sometimes they would rather die then live in the H*** they do through all the appeals.

I guess without hope we have nothing and I think when they volunteer to be killed by the State, you have lost hope.

Thanks for your response. I know it is dreadful going through the appeal process, because I am at that point with my husband also. It is horrible and especially without a paid attorney or much money.
However, we are both keeping our head held high and hoping for the best. Of course he doesn't have a death sentence hanging over his head either.
I just hate to see anyone give up Hope. You just never know when something might break open. I know we shouldn't count on it, but one just never knows what might happen.
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate your thoughts.

My thoughts and prayers are definitely with him and all that will no doubt unfortunately follow.
May God have mercy on their souls.
