I've been looking for an apartment, but no one wants a parolee living in any half decent complex. I work at least 40 hrs. a week, and am drug free, etc., and people just see that I'm on parole, and I guess automatically assume the worst. Regardless, I need a place to live. I'm on parole for one count of "burglary of a habitation". They don't even see my offense, I just tell them up front if the apartment application asks about criminal history, because why spend $25 for an application just to be refused? Can anyone be of any help? I'm just trying to keep my new life together. Thanks.

Your best bet is to go to a mom & pop place that is trying to rent an apartment. Any decent sized complex (basically any place charging an app fee) is probably not going to accept you based on your record. Good thinking not to waste your money! :) Try looking for privately owned places because they're a lot less likely to give a thought to your criminal record. Good luck!
