Started off on the wrong foot :blah: .. but ended quiet well I think. :D
I left work at 3 pm (Tempe) drove home (hour away) to meet him at 4 pm. By 5:15 pm I was pissed .. no show .. no call .. nothing! Let one of us fail to show up at a designated time/place for a PO meeting. Aauugghh. :blah:
Well he finally arrived about 5:40 ... I answered the door and said I'd about given up on you. He polite explained he was running behind but had received approval from his supervisor to work till 8 pm .. He later explained that he only has 15 days to complete a home visit/report. Wow .. welcome to the life of DOC.
1st thing he did was ask for my ID... then he explained that according to ASP/DOC rules they had to do the home visits 6 months prior to release. He was obligated to do a background check on me even though DOC had done one for visitation... he had to do his own. (no big deal .. I have no criminal history .. just loving an inmate stupidity history) LOL :p
He was a very polite gentleman. Asked the standard questions:
How long known each other .. relationship .. how long lived in residence .. own/rent .. who lives here... any criminal history .. guns .. drugs ... would him being in my home be a financial burden .. I laughed and said noo ... where he is NOW is the financial burden!
Asked if we had ever lived together before .. asked if i would be willing to provide him transportation to PO visits...of course I said yes ... he asked what he was in prison for ... explained how they calculate ERC dates and what his max out date is (March 20, 2005) ... which confused me .. cuz I thought it was July 10, 2005. He said no.... according to AZ State Law .. hes out 3/20 no matter how bad boy he is .. even if score is 5/5 they would have to release him on March 20th .. cuz of the 85% thing. :D
He gave me a copy of the form he will have to sign ... saying he'll not hang out with the homies (anyone on parole or probation) .. has to contact him if he has any contact with police ... no guns .. drugs .. gotta :D work ...:D .. attend counseling/classes he's assigned to ...agree to home visits/searches without a warrant... basic stuff when you're placed on probation type thing.
He said that we had to contact him in the 1st 24 hours after MyGuy's release .. and that he would then schedule an appointment for him to come to the office and meet with him.
But all in all .. it was a good visit ... I signed the form saying I agreed to allow him to live in my home .. He said if I had any questions I was welcome to call him .. but until he is actually released we'd have to continue to go through his CO III Counselor at the facility he's at.
The one thing I failed to ask was: How will I know if my home/I'm approved for his release? I may call next week and speak to the guy and ask  I didn't even think about that until I was writing MyGuy a letter last night telling him what happen ....
I'm not on cloud nine .. but I definately feel like some stress has been relieved ... this has to mean we are headed towards some sort of an end ... I still have probably 6 months to go .. but hey ... One day at a time!!
I hope this information is helpful to some of you that are still awaiting for this type of process to begin ... I know I was scared to death ... but now it's over ... and I am back to counting the days .... ;)
